enjoying an evening session at a spot that works once or twice a year. We went for a hit mission on a rare northerly storm to the Lithuanian coastline. At first we hit a well known spot just to get our need for some quality jumps fulfilled, but it was working so good we ended up staying for 3 hours. Even tho we were knackered I convinced Martynas to go and explore a spot that is known to be fickle and very few have windsurfed it. Once we arrived we were very surprised by how good the spot was, side on-shore winds and cleared up, set waves is a rare sight on our coast. So I sent out Martynas to hit the ramps while I stayed behind the camera.
Autumn is the time for storms, so we are now always ready to pack up and hit the road to explore more new spots along the Baltic Coastline.

Always love the opportunity to shoot with elite athletes. I am always surprised by how they make the hardest conditions look like a swim in a pond and how the most difficult moves just seem so effortless for them.

Calima - a sandstorm blow over from Sahara dessert and currently covering the Canary Islands.
Pretty eerie atmosphere - feels like you are in a Mad Max movie of some sort :)

flying through the turquoise waters of El Medano. This is one of my favorite windsurfing pictures that I have taken. The angle, the light, colour and of course perfect modeling skills from the one and only Vinci. Who is hopefully on the way to tenerife already 😋

For the photographer shooting from the water is challenging as you constantly have to move, dodge waves, dodge surfers and focus on getting the shots. However, at least all the stupid faces you make when the wave is about to hit you stay on the other side of the camera. For surfers it is a bit different, all their wonderful facial expressions get captured forever. Here we can see using what is know as 'inflated cheeks technique' - it has been proven that inflating cheeks before hitting the lip produces 20% more spray 😂😂😂

So before the session I told - 'Please try not to kill me, if that is possible'.... then the first top turn he does , he pretty much slides into my nose [photos 1 and 2]. So as a revenge I took the photo of his best move of 2019 - photo 3 - enjoy!

For me photography is about capturing the moment and emotion. And while shooting action, adventure, sports in crazy conditions at the mercy of nature is a lot of fun. But more often than not I find that the most meaningful images to me are the portrait ones. They are also the ones that I keep on coming back to and looking at.
