Receive
I receive with a glad and grateful heart.

I am blessed in so many ways. With open eyes I behold all the ways I receive the goodness of God in my life. With an open heart I feel gratitude for my senses and the ways that goodness reinforces my awareness of my connection with the Divine.

Life’s simple moments become heaven on earth as I receive my blessings. Each sunbeam that touches my skin warms me. Every drop of rain prompts me to think of all the ways my thirst is quenched. Each person who welcomes me lets me know I am not alone. Every animal I connect with informs me that I am a valued member of a diverse world.

I need not strive or even ask to be blessed. I am in awe when I realize all the wonderful ways I receive the goodness of God.

They will receive blessing from the Lord, and vindication from the God of their salvation.—Psalm 24:5

I harness the potent power of the present moment for a fresh start.

There may be no better time to imagine a new story for myself than at the start of a year that feels exciting and full of possibility.

I seize the day to make a fresh start. I begin in a period of quiet contemplation by feeling the power of the present. In prayer, I claim the divine ideas of imagination and zeal to imagine my goals for the new year and have the energy to get started on them.

The year is stretched out before me, inviting me to begin again. I rise to meet the opportunity, eager and faith-filled. Rejuvenated and inspired, I live as the divine being I am, blessed and equipped to make my dreams come true.

And the one who was seated on the throne said, “See, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this, for these words are trustworthy and true.”—Revelation 21:5

I release 2024 in gratitude for its blessings as well as the learning experiences it has brought. I welcome 2025 as a fresh opportunity to practice what I have learned, to renew my efforts to help build a world that is not only free from armed conflict, but also affirms each person’s right to live, love, and thrive in peace.

I envision world peace spreading from mind to mind and heart to heart as people in every part of the world recognize themselves and all others as living expressions of God. Together we are learning to love one another, to know our oneness. As I join with those who share my commitment to recognizing the divine nature of all people, peace dawns in the world.

Believe
I believe in the goodness and grace of God.

Perhaps there is no time of year when we feel the power of believing so strongly as we do in the days leading up to Christmas. From children who are eager to awaken on Christmas morning to presents under the tree to grown-ups who dream of peace on earth and goodwill to all, believing helps us feel anything is possible.

Believing is faith in action, a way to hold positive expectancy that the goodness of God is always coming into the world. When there seems to be evidence to the contrary, when people act in ways that do not reflect their divine nature, I do not despair. Instead, I pray the goodness and grace of God flow through me to touch and heal lives. I believe. These words fill my mind and heart and are the truth of my life.
