Ordinary South Africans are feeling the brunt of excessive power outages. Critics say that the state-owned power utility company Eskom, which produces about 95% of the country's electricity, is failing to deliver on its mandate. It's implementing scheduled blackouts to save electricity as it struggles to keep its aging and poorly maintained power stations operational.
