The Amnesia: A Tale of Bloody Moonlight (2024) - mini-review
Italian band The Amnesia are out with the album "A Tale of Bloody Moonlight", and I guess hard rock is the category most suitable for this production. It is a vibrant variety of the form we get here, with impulses from punk as well as alternative rock applied to expand the boundaries of the good, old hard rock tradition with a more staccato pattern as well as some instrument details of a quirkier variety. The vocals are crisp, clean, clear and melodic here, and with the band at least to some degree having a bit of a flirt with contemporary metal at times too and then primarily by way of intensity. We also get almost a handful of variations on the good, old ballad here, with everything from the borderline stripped down delicate creation to a little bit of a reinvention of the classic power ballad. As well as a couple of deviations from those extremes. An album to seek out by those who enjoy their hard rock explored in a more alternative and contemporary manner, and that appreciate a little bit of metal intensity sneaking in here and there in these landscapes.
