Good evening all, our phones and other social media handles are flooded with questions from members of the public following some purported appointment allegedly made at the Zambia Daily Mail.

Since the same falls under our Ministry and direct supervision, we are obliged to respond to the Many questions thrown at us.

We take the opportunity to inform the public that no such positions as "Deputy Editor in Charge of Photography" and "Chief Photographer" at the Zambia Daily Mail exist.

It follows therefore, that no such appointment can be made or has been made and the public is encouraged to ask those claiming to have been appointed, to produce the purported letter/s of Appointment.

Further, the Public is educated that no matter how close the Presidency may get to the people, the Presidency cannot and can never be the one to appoint any person to such technical positions that deal with videos, images, audios, graphics or indeed sounds.

There are relevant authorities that fill in such positions but definitely not the Presidency.

We take the opportunity to dismiss the said claim with the contempt it deserves.

PRESS STATEMENT
(For Immediate Release)

4th November 2023.

MOTION TO IMPEACH SPEAKER

We have received with concern, numerous queries on our position with regards to a document circulating on social media with content that proposes to move a motion to impeach the Speaker of the Nation Assembly, RT Hon Nelly B.K Mutti (FAPRA). This is in line with Article 83 of our Republican Constitution read together with Section 82 of the National Assembly of Zambia Standing orders 2021.

We wish to state that our position will be given only to the extent that our name appears on this document without any endorsement (signature). This in itself should be indicative enough that we are not part of this petition or its contents therein.It must be clear from the onset that we are equally having first sight of this letter only from social media.

While we are well aware that this process had been initiated , it must be noted that it did not undergo any consensus with ourselves. Further, as PNUP we are not averse to work with our colleagues in the opposition or independents particularly on matters we mutually consent to.

In this regard, for the avoidance of doubt i wish to clarify in no uncertain terms that we are not party to the process of moving a motion to impeach the Speaker of the National Assembly.

We further wish to urge our colleagues, in future not to include names of Honorable members who do not endorse their signature as party to partisan processes .

Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba has arrived at the Patriotic Front Party Secretariat where members of the Party have gathered to reject the illegal imposition and installation of expelled member, Matero MP, Miles Sampa as PF President by the UPND.

Amb. Mwamba says manouvres to legitimize Sampa as PF President will be fought through the Courts, Parliament, and through mass actions such as demonstrations and protests.

He has called for sister political parties, NGOs and the labour movement to join the fight to protect Democracy and the Rule of Law.

He is also calling for a day of national shutdown to protest against manouvres being engineered against Democracy and the Rule of Law.

ECL Packs out of Ibex Hill house

Former President Edgar Lungu says he has packed out of the Ibex Hill house government was renting for him as part of his presidential retirement benefits following his return to active politics.

Speaking at Police Force Headquarters where he together with other senior PF official had gone to seek answers from the Inspector General of Police as to why they are being denied access to the party secretariat, Mr Lungu who was denied access into the Police headquarters disclosed that he had received information that UPND cadres wanted to hound his family out of the house.

He says technically his family had already packed of the house and did not even spend the night in the Ibex hill house.
