December 1, 2023, the Engineering and Technology Department marks a joyous occasion as they come together to celebrate the spirit of compassion and generosity. In commemoration of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SSVP), they have organized a heartwarming gift-giving event that promises to bring smiles to many faces in our community.

The SSVP, known for its unwavering commitment to helping those in need, is at the forefront of community service. This event is a testament to the organization's dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of individuals and families facing various challenges.

As part of the celebration, ETD has meticulously curated a collection of thoughtful gifts that reflect the spirit of the season. Volunteers and supporters alike have come together to contribute to this noble cause, embodying the true essence of giving back to the community.

The festivities kicked off earlier today with a warm welcome from Engr. Daisy Rose Virgini Plameras (ETD Dean) expressing gratitude for the continuous support received from the community. Attendees were treated to inspirational speeches, highlighting the importance of kindness and solidarity, especially during these challenging times.

The highlight of the event was the distribution of gifts to individuals and families who may be experiencing hardships. The joy and gratitude radiating from the recipients served as a poignant reminder of the positive impact that small acts of kindness can have on the community.

On November 24, 2023, the Engineering and Technology Department concluded its Sportsfest Activity with the crowning of Mr. and Ms. ETD. The pageant commenced with an opening prayer, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and the Anthonian Hymn. Engr. Daisy Rose Virgini Plameras set the stage with an encouraging opening address, wishing success to all participants. Without further ado, the pageant began, and everyone looked stunning. In particular, ICpEP.se students showed unwavering support for their candidates, cheering loudly and proudly.

All participants gave their best with determination and enthusiasm, but only one could be crowned Mr. ETD and one as Ms. ETD. The representative for MS. CpE, Celene Charlotte Abellon, received awards for Best in Production Number, Best in Sports Attire, and Best in Interview, earning her the title of Ms. ETD 1st runner-up for 2023.

On the other hand, the representative for Mr. CpE, Adam Richwell S. Needer, earned awards for Best in Production Number, Best in Sports Attire, Most Photogenic, and the People's Choice award. With these achievements, Adam was crowned Mr. ETD 2023. Reflecting on his victory, Adam expressed, "I realized that I have more to give. I faced my fears, anxieties, and insecurities, and at last, I did it! It was a truly knowledgeable, overwhelming, and unforgettable night for all of us. We are all winners!"

The hardships and dedication of all participants paid off, providing a great experience for everyone involved. Both Celene and Adam extended their gratitude and appreciation to their families, friends, coordinators, teachers, and classmates for their unwavering support, motivation, and guidance throughout their pageant journey.

In a dazzling display of athleticism and sportsmanship, the Engineering and Technology Department (ETD) recently concluded its highly anticipated Sportsfest Activity from November 22-24, 2023. The event, which featured a multitude of sports, highlighted the skills and determination of the Computer Engineering players.

The festivities commenced with a spirited parade, tracing a route from Bishop De Wit Hall to the SAC Bandstand. The official inauguration unfolded with a solemn opening prayer, accompanied by renditions of the Philippine National Anthem and the Anthonian Hymn. Engr. Daisy Rose Virgini Plameras, ETD Dean, delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship and integrity. She subsequently presided over the oathtaking of ETD officers, setting the tone for the competitive days ahead.

The ceremony further included symbolic rituals such as the raising of banners, the oathtaking of sportsmanship, a ceremonial toss, the lighting of the torch, and culminated in the Official Declaration of ETD Sportsfest.

A diverse array of sports, including Badminton, Volleyball, Basketball, Swimming, Athletics, Futsal, Football, Sepak Takraw, Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Softball, and E-Sports, provided a platform for students to showcase their talents. Notably, the ICpEP team from the Computer Engineering program demonstrated exceptional prowess, despite having the smallest population among participating programs. Each player exhibited versatility by participating in two or more sports.

As the Sportsfest reached its pinnacle on November 24th, the closing day featured an awards ceremony that celebrated the outstanding achievements of the participants. The ICpEP team, overcoming numerical odds, secured an impressive 2nd place in the overall standings. Their remarkable performance earned them a total of 55 gold medals, a testament to their dedication and skill on the field.

The ETD Sportsfest not only provided a platform for friendly competition but also fostered a sense of camaraderie among students. The event's success reflects the unwavering spirit and commitment of the participants, making it a memorable chapter in the department's history.

In a recent orientation event (October 13, 2023), organizers extended a warm welcome to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), expressing gratitude for their dedication and hard work. Stressing the pivotal role OFWs play in the Philippine economy, the event aimed to strengthen the sense of community among these hardworking individuals.

The orientation delved into the mission and vision of the OFW community, emphasizing unity, cooperation, and empowerment. Speakers underscored the importance of advocating for OFW rights, fostering collaboration for collective improvement.

A notable highlight was the introduction of the Digital Warriors club, spearheaded by Ms. Rhiza Joi Navallasca. This innovative initiative seeks to equip OFWs with the tools to be responsible and informed social media users.

Addressing the potential of social media as a force for good, speakers cautioned against the pitfalls of misinformation and hate speech. OFWs were urged to critically evaluate online information and employ social media responsibly.

The event, filled with creativity and appreciation, showcased the talent and camaraderie among the different year levels.

The festivities kicked off with the 1st-year students taking the stage, harmonizing to the tune of 'Salamat' by Yeng Constantino, a song chosen to convey their deep appreciation for their teachers. The melodious performance set the tone for an afternoon of heartfelt expressions.

Moving on to the 2nd-year level, Andrae Tiron took the spotlight, delivering a soulful rendition of 'Perfect' by Ed Sheeran. His performance captivated the audience and added a musical touch to the event.

In a poetic gesture, Galen Hadrián Juayno represented the 3rd-year students with a heartfelt poem. His words not only expressed gratitude to their own instructors but also extended appreciation to teachers everywhere for their tireless efforts in shaping young minds.

In a momentous event on August 25, 2023, the Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering students gathered to elect their new officers for the academic year 2023-2024. The occasion was marked by heartfelt farewells and promises of dedicated service from both outgoing and incoming leaders.

The outgoing CpE President, Robert J. Naranjo II, delivered a poignant farewell speech expressing gratitude for the opportunity to lead the CpE family. "Thank you so much, my beloved CpE family, for the opportunity you have given me to be your president. I am beyond grateful for the memories we've shared, and I will cherish them forever. Our brotherhood does not end here; I'm excited to see what the future holds for each and every one of us," said Robert, reflecting on his term and the strong bonds formed within the community.

Following Robert's heartfelt address, the newly elected CpE President, John Alvin E. Cochesa, took the stage to express his gratitude and commitment to his new role. "Thank you so much, everyone, for choosing me as your president for this academic year. I promise to do my very best to fulfill my responsibilities," assured John, setting a tone of dedication and enthusiasm for the upcoming term.
