Our very last day on the Gibb River Road was Zebedee Springs and El Questro Gorge. This was a massive day!!! We got to Zebedee at 10am, had a float around and made our way to El Questro Gorge at 11am….we walked out of the Gorge at 4pm 😳

El Questro Gorge was far and away the most challenging gorge on the Gibb. 4.8km return, thousands of rocks to climb, waterfalls to climb and heaps of stream crossing eventually got us to the end. The reward was worth it (maybe) as the pool was an amazing temperature and beautiful to swim in

Emma Gorge has to be one the most picturesque gorge walks on the Gibb River Road. Little water holes all along the 1.5km walk surrounded by 600m high escarpments. If you take the time to look around you’ll find beautiful little waterfalls all the way.

For anyone about to do serious dirt roading and have a Ute with canopy. I had some pool noodles left over after covering the pipes under the van. I cut the two edge ones in half and stuck them behind the pin. I cut another one about a quarter thick and closed the door on it.

This pic was taken after crossing the Pentecost river (500ks of Gibb river dirt) and you can see, there’s no dirt/dust on anything. Cost $2, saves cleaning everything 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Just a little reminder if you’re doing a remote trip. Always remember to have some tools and spare items.

We got to our camp spot at Gibb River crossing and noticed the cable hanging down. No idea how it happened, but it did. Luckily, I packed a couple of spare Anderson just in case. 5 minutes and the new one was fitted…..it’s better to be safe than sorry 👍🏼👍🏼

We spent the last 2 nights at Manning Gorge Campground. In order to reach this gorge, you complete a short swim across the river and 2.5k walk to the Gorge. The reward at the end of the walk was well worth it.

We left March Fly Glen and made the short drive to Imintji Camp ground. We dropped the van and explored Galvans and Adcock Gorges.

A short, flat walk into Galvins Gorge resulted in the most picturesque waterfall and swimming hole you could ever imagine. The water was an awesome temperature and we only had about half a dozen other people there which meant lots of space. The kids and I (dad) jumped from the tree, climbed the waterfall and jumped from a number of its ledges. If you’re not keen on jumping, grab a noodle or floatie and just chill!!

We headed to Adcock Gorge and the road in was terrible. Great fun to drive but not in great condition. Walking about 600m, spotting crocs on the way in, you find yourself surrounded by a vertical cliff face at least 100m high with a cascading waterfall. We swam to the other side, climbed the rocks and jumped off the cliff edges.

I think Galvins Gorge might have pushed itself to the top of the list 😉

We left Lennard River Rest area and made our way to March Fly Glen rest area. We unhitched the van and visited Lennard Gorge and Bell Gorge.

Lennard Gorge was a 3km return hike with a lookout at the end. We spoke to people who went around the fence and made their way down for a swim….that was a “hell no” from me….there’s a fence there for a reason 😳 on the way back we stopped and had a swim in a picturesque watering hole.

We jumped in the car and made the 40km drive to Bell Gorge. Oh My Lord!!!! This Gorge was SPECTACULAR!!! An easy 1km walk in to the Gorge and you’re rewarded with one of the most beautiful sights and swims you will ever do.

3 nights at Lennard River free camp allowed us to explore Windjana Gorge where we saw our first crocodile and Tunnel Creek where we experienced our first indigenous artworks.

I took a little convincing to get the kids to swim through tunnel creek but they got there in the end. I (dad) did 5 laps to swim with everyone and be the sacrificial lamb if there happened to be a croc🤣…..there wasn’t any 😉

Both places were amazing!

Words cannot describe the feeling I have parking in front of the Gibb River Road sign!

I have had a desire to do this leg of the trip for as long as I can remember, at least 30 years.

It’s feels a little surreal to be here and really looking forward to see what the next 2 weeks has to offer!!!

First stop, Lennard River Free Camp for a couple of days while we do Windjana Gorge and Tunnel Creek.

We spent the last couple of days exploring Broome. I tried a mango beer at Mato’s Brewery (wasn’t great). Explored the dinosaur footprints. Headed up to Willie Creek and had a look at the pearl farm and had lunch at Spinifex Brewery.

The experience at Spinifex was so unexpected. Just sitting there and the waiter says “we’re going to feed the camels now”. Feed the camels?? What??? All of a sudden, there were 15 camels lined up outside. All the kids were given a carrot and they got to feed the camels before they went to the beach 😳 we headed down to Cable Beach, drove along the beach, had a swim, a fish and watched a sunset.

Next stop…….Gibb River Road 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Today’s adventures at 80 mile beach involved fishing, food, drinks and sunsets. There were a heap of people on the beach but it’s so long, we found a place where we felt like we were on a deserted island!

80 mile beach sunsets do not disappoint! Erin even designed a shell turtle 😊

Our third and final day in Karijini had us making the 115km trip from Dales to Hamerlys Gorge.

This one was by far the easiest to get to. With 5 layers of pools, I can see why it is the most popular.

This gorge also has features which date back 2.5 Billion years and the curved layers of rocks were formed millions of years ago by the techtonic plates smashing together…..unbelievable 😳😳

Karijini NP 😍

Day 2- we make the 50k trip to Weano and Hancock Gorges.

We made the trek all the way along Weano Gorge but couldn’t get to handrail pool due to the area being closed from a millipede infestation. Apparently, when it rains the water flushes them out but there hasn’t been any to get rid of them.

We got to junction lookout and headed back to the car for lunch. After being fed, we made the trip down into Hancock Gorge. We passed the Amphitheater, completed spider walk and had a swim in Kermit Pool…..and it was fresh 😳

It is such a beautiful place!!

Day 1- we dropped our van at Dales campground and did the Dales Gorge Trek, viewed Fortescue Falls and then had a swim in Fern Pool. You can see why this NP is so highly rated!

Jurien Bay and Milligan Island Eco Camp. Jurien Bay is just over 200ks north of Perth and Milligans island 30ks north of Jurien Bay.

We spent 2 nights at both but could have spent plenty more! If it wasn’t for the car being booked in for service at Geraldton, we would definitely still be there. Beautiful little spots!

We stopped of at the Pinnacles on our way to Jurien Bay. The formations are thought to be over 30,000 years old and made up of natural limestone that formed after the sea receded and left deposits of broken seashells and coral behind.
