DBM Ep 57: Meditations By Mamas: Rising Meditation - You Are Enough w/ Jamarah Amani
Dear Mama
You are worthy to rise each day and dance in your dreams with your children by your side.
You are worthy of serenity in birth.
You are worthy of joy while holding your children.
Join Midwife Jamarah Amani of Southern Birth Justice in partnership with the WNBA for a meditation experience to remind you:
You are complete. You are not alone. You are magic.
Meditations by Mamas are led by Black mamas to help us maintain alignment with healing, creativity, and liberation to manifest joy and abundance.

Do not confuse OUR evolution, Black folx, Black women’s evolution with political progress. OUR evolution is dependent upon our willingness to heal within and among ourselves and we don’t have to wait on permission to walk through a door or be included in a room in order to do so.
It does require us to peel back the layers of that hard shell and find those tender spots (sometimes called triggers) and hold them with compassion and grace and create spaces where we can do the same with one another.

a hard truth
This is a hard truth.
When Kimberly tweeted this we had just wrapped up our episode with Domari Dickinson of Positive & Purposeful Parenting and she spoke honestly about this very thing in her parenting journey with her children particularly her adult daughter.
One of our biggest takeaways was this:
Part of your healing is acknowledging harm EVEN IF you did the best that you could with what you knew at the time and Domari gave some great language for parents when comes to healing this.

When this album dropped we thought we were the only ones speaking in Beyonce lyrics and then @iamlisaprice made a PSA and affirmed us and WE KNEW we couldn’t seal our time capsule with #QueenBey.

We knew we were in the presence of genius and greatness at the 2022 #blackmaternalhealthconference
Thank you to Black Mamas Matter Alliance for bringing this brilliance into the room.
As Black women we are often ahead of our time, particularly when it comes to social justice movements because of the particular space we occupy in the world. It's beautiful to witness Loretta J. Ross, one of the founders of the #ReproductiveJustice Movement, get her flowers now and it even more beautiful to know that she can taste and savor the fruits of her labor. Thank you for giving us language to understand and embrace our worthiness.

We're celebrating one of Day 1s today! Lou-Ann has been riding with Dem Black Mamas since our sound was Tyra weave ANTM Season 1 (if you know then you know😜) We're so proud of her for expanding into the podcast space and glad that she got to join us on our 50th episode!
Lou-Ann is a creative, mother of two and certified Birthing from Within childbirth educator. After having her second child, she birthed another baby— @wellworthwatering : a space that empowers parents with soulfully-curated (don't that sound good 🥰) childbirth education classes and postpartum services.
At the core of this work is the belief that the birthing year offers seeds of self-discovery that bloom for the rest of our parenting lives. When we all have the ability to not just survive birth but to be nurtured into parenthood, we become equipped to pour from wells of overflow instead of overwhelm. (Yes 👏🏿yes👏🏿 and 👏🏿more please)
Lou-Ann also hosts the Well Worth Watering podcast, which pours into the maternal health experiences of black parents through transformative conversations that aim to teach and empower folks throughout their birth journey.
Lou-Ann believes that parents-to-be already possess wisdom. She encourages them to water their lived experiences into strengths that will serve them on their birth, labor and postpartum journey.
Show some love for Lou-Ann at Well Worth Watering 💗
