SORCERER RECORDS will be at the Independent Music Exchange this weekend in Thornbury as part of the Eighty-Six Festival, along with many of our pals from other Oz indie labels. There will be a stall with LPs for sale from LUBRICATED GOAT, LOU, DOG FACED HERMANS, DIED PRETTY, ASH WEDNESDAY, ROBERT QUINE/JODY HARRIS, MELBOURNE ZOO, RON RUDE and more.
I've also dug out from the shed(!) a bunch of CDs from my old label, Lexicon Devil, and will be selling cheap compact discs by the likes of TEN EAST, THE SCENE IS NOW, VOCOKESH, PIVIXKI, YAWNING MAN, OIL TASTERS, TAR BABIES, F/i, HONEY RIDE ME A GOAT, VIBRACATHEDRAL ORCHESTRA and more.

dawson's Discography+ 2CD is now up on Bandcamp for preorder, to be released on the 30th of June. 2 CDs, 58 tracks, 140 minutes of music all housed in a 3-panel wallet with a 20-page booklet. 500 pressed. Got all those metrics? Well wrap your ears around the blistering brand of barely-controlled post-hardcore sonics from this Scottish band ca. 1989 - 1994. Coming out in late June on Sorcerer Records: a 2CD set (yes, CDs!) of the complete discography by the mighty Scottish post-hardcore band, DAWSON. Covering their recorded existence between the years 1989 - 1994, it features their three full-length LPs, three 7"s, demo cassette, live material and more. 58 tracks / 140 minutes of music housed in a three-panel cardboard wallet package comprising a 20-page booklet with photos, flyers and extensive liner notes by the band's Jer Reid. Why release this? Because there needs to be a tactile document for one of the best, most exciting and most underrated bands of their era. Often referred to in the same breath as their pals in The Ex and Dog Faced Hermans, DAWSON played like a musical kaleidoscope, mixing hardcore fury with scratchy post-punk, Afro rhythms, collage, manic noise, heavy-duty dub and much more. The Pop Group, Crass, On-U Sound, bIG fLAME, Minutemen and even the controlled chaos of the Boredoms could be mentioned, but this was Scotland's DAWSON. Look out!

Australian synth-pop/post-punk legend KAREN MARKS will be playing her first ever live show this Friday at Melbourne Town Hall, with a crack band featuring ASH WEDNESDAY and others. And it's free, too! (So register online).
Our pal Michael from Efficient Space will have a stall set up at the show, and he'll be selling copies of the ASH WEDNESDAY compilation on Sorcerer. We've printed up limited copies of the album on PINK wax, exclusively for the event, which he'll have for sale. Support from YL Hooi and Modal Melodies. Should be fun!

Coming in April on Sorcerer: BRUTE FORCE AND HIS DRUM - The Weird & Wonderful World Of... 12" EP. Brute Force = Australian musician and producer, John J. Francis, and drummer Jim Yonge of prog-rockers Pirana. In 1974 they released the classic 7" slice of oddball Oz synth/psych under the BF moniker, "Weird & Wonderful/Strange". Never reissued and now commanding hefty sums, this 12" contains both tracks plus four previously unreleased numbers from the same session which are equally as weird and wonderful. Totally amazing synth/drums psychedelic fury which sounds like some sort of a gonzo mix of Bruce Haack and The Cramps (or perhaps the music that inspired The Cramps: think "The Crusher", Hasil Adkins et al), its six tracks will melt minds. A slice of Australian '70s strangeness well worth an earload.

Preorder is up for the first Sorcerer release since 2020!
LOU is Melbourne-based guitarist/singer Sarah Hardiman who has played in bands such as Deaf Wish, Brick Head and Nightclub; as well as, Moon Rituals, a collaboration with Mikey Young.
Recording under the alias LOU, their debut album presents something quite different. Written and recorded alone over two days in Beechworth in mid-2021, 'For The Morning' features eight bucolic, instrumental, guitar-based tracks which combine a country morning flavour with lush and melodic lyricism.
Perhaps the most obvious (or easy) musical comparisons would be the twang 'n' strum of William Tyler, Bill Frisell or American instrumentalists, Pell Mell. Or perhaps Manchester's Durutti Column minus the Englishness. Sarah/LOU released For The Morning as a purely digital album on September the 1st, 2021, to great acclaim and regular spins on local stations, 3PBS and 3RRR. It soon caught the ears of Sorcerer Records' head stooge, Dave Lang, who decided that such an excellent release deserved physical form as some sort of mark of its quality and for folks to enjoy as a musical artefact.
The album features stunning artwork from local artist-designer Carl Breitkreutz which perfectly complements its sonics: expressive and slightly sun-washed. Sorcerer Records have pressed up 300 copies on vinyl, housed in a lovely matte sleeve.
