One of the tracks on Bioluminescent Soundwaves—Opalescent Soul—features a massive and epic breakdown with a choir as the cornerstone of the sound. I really enjoy heavy breakdowns from genres like deathcore, so I wanted to try to combine elements from that and elements from orchestral music to create a massive, face-melting metal breakdown.
featuring guitars/bass/drums from @solemntonesofficial , choir from @performancesamples , and organ from @spitfireaudio

Robert and I recently released a big project we’ve been working on all year called Arcane Skies--here’s how we worked on it remotely and also got it recorded by Budapest Scoring :)
Impact Soundworks recently released a cool VST called Rosette Mandolin, and I had the cool pleasure of writing a demo for it! Since I'm a D&D player, the first thing that came to mind was to try writing a song you would hear in a tavern, so I devleoped a triplet rhythm held down by one mandolin, and the lead melody played by the other. I then layered some more fitting instrumentation to strengthen the aesthetic, and this was the result!
I really enjoy this VST and writing for mandolin in the rare times I do so- I've been wanting to explore the D&D music aesthetic and this was the perfect gateway to doing that :)
In July, I participated in the Richmond 48HFF once again! I was tasked with creating a "film noir"-esque soundtrack, particularly one that was half serious, half tongue-in-cheek. I've written a couple songs in this style before, and they always stretched my composition skills a bit, so writing an entire score in this style, all in one day? 😬 But it was done! I used a lot of strange chords and chromatic movement, along with close-mic'd instruments like piano, clarinet, and solo trumpet to give it that close, moody noir-sound.
As always, it's a great pleasure doing these, especially with such a talented and passionate cast and crew ❤️
Someone called this an "FBI OPEN UP type beat" and I felt that. One of my first big forays into the percussive sound design trailer genre :)
Over the past week and a half, I challenged myself to create an as-realistic as possible, standard orchestral instrumentation, melody-heavy track and then convert it to sheet music. Writing alone was a grind and took a few days on and off, and sheet music took MANY hours. But it was really nice change from trailer music :)
What kinda vibes does this track give you?
What do you get when you mix Metal with Trailer Music?... honestly, I'm not sure what the name of this hybrid genre would be, but I really enjoy the sound of it.
This track is actually on an album I wrote for Amadea Music Productions, the track itself being called "Quantum Evolution." However, the one on the album doesn't have these metal drums. If you wish to check it out, the link is here:

My favorite thing about writing music for games is the creative liberties you can take. My friend asked for some drum and bass music for his WIP game called Bunny Hop Hare Trigger, and I didn’t quite give him a DnB track but I gave him a neat rock/hybrid/sorta cinematic thing. If there's one thing I really love about writing music for games. It’s writing stuff out of my comfort zone :)
If you're curious, this game is available for demo testing on Steam. Check it out to support my friend and I, it would mean a lot!! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1972090/Bunny_Hop_Hare_Trigger/
Those of you that know me and my content know that while I mostly compose cinematic stuff, metal has a VERY special place in my heart. And one of my favorite things to do is mix the “larger than life” sound of epic orchestral music with the hard-hitting elements of metal to create even crazier stuff.
I’ve been enamored with this 3-note phrase recently and wanted to write a song centered around it. And of course I had to find a picture to help out in the creative process :)
What would happen if, instead of scoring TO PICTURE, you scored TO -A- picture? This is something I used to do a lot more back in 2019/2020, and is something I decided to do again with a track I was working on during my free time recently.
I've been a bit quiet on here for a while so my apologies for that!
I am not a singer by any means, but in a couple sections of the track Ocean Infinite that I released last Friday you may be able to hear a subtle and very in-the-back choir. It sounds big in the song, but you’d be surprised how much you can accomplish with a few (alright) takes and some reverb.
The link to the music video for Ocean Infinite is listed below if you are interested to hear the full track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ap5Q53nHMik
Let’s improve an old, not-too-well-produced song I wrote in 2017 called Rhythm of the Insurrection!
FYI: might wanna turn up your volume a bit for the Drums and the Sine wave parts. Those don’t come through as loud through phone speakers, oop!
Earlier this year I composed the soundtrack to the film Drown by @benhollingerfilms. One of the scenes within the film was a long-shot scene, and I was asked to create a song that would be very minimalistic but add to the tension in the scene itself.
Here I talk about how I approached this scene and went for a “tense” feel in the cue.
A few months ago I had the chance to sit down with Adam Ivy and talk about my experiences going through the SellMusic Masterclass course, and how I used to struggle with a sense of “focus” early on in my career but now the vision that I have is much more vivid and clear. If you like this preview be sure to check out the full video on Adam’s video and let us know what you think!!

Performance Samples gave out a demo freebie of some percussion instruments from their Pacific Symphonic Orchestra so I grabbed it and played around with it a little bit. I really enjoy the sound of these. :)
I’ve been spending a lot of my free time recently taking a course called “Trailer Music Redefined” to get better at composing and producing trailer music and I have been REALLY enjoying it. This song is something I just recently finished while going through the course and thought you’d like to hear it. :)
Been taking an online course on how to make trailer music and produced this piece using the stuff I've learned thus far. Really enjoying the course!!
I’ve been spending a good amount of time recently practicing making trailer music and finished a new track that was inspired heavily by the game Subnautica. As I was developing the song I was imagining some overly epic trailer for the game as the song grows which really helped drive my vision for this song forward. By the way if you haven’t played the game Subnautica… you really should. When I was playing it in late July I did close to nothing else and accidentally ended up with considerably dry eyes for nearly a straight week because I barely blinked while playing it. :)
