Operation Cool Down

Hillsborough officers are collecting new fans and window air conditioning units for residents who need cooling assistance during the summer.

“Some Hillsborough residents do not have the means to cool their homes,” said Major Andy Simmons. “Operation Cool Down will equip Hillsborough officers with fans and window units that they can provide to households when they see there is a need.”

The Police Department will collect donations from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays June 20-28 at the Police Station, 127 N. Churton St. The station is closed to the public June 19 as town offices are closed in observance of Juneteenth.

Donated fans and air conditioning units must be new to ensure the safety of the residents who receive them.

Arrange for pickup of business or combined donations.

Donate outside the department’s administrative hours.

Officers were invited to attend State Employees Credit Union's Fat Cat summer camp scholarship award ceremony. The program was open to members of their Fat Cat and ZARD Account programs. Fat Cat and ZARD members were invited to submit essays detailing their dream summer camp experience to vie for one of $500.00 scholarships at each branch. This year's winners were Tanner Kearns, 8th grade, and Justin Raulli, 2nd grade. Congratulations to both!
