Closing Eyal Talmudi’s meditative song cycle Sonolodge, ‘From the Sea We Rise’, is a hushed prayer – written to recognize the beauty in the flicker of our lives on earth, an invitation to love deeply amidst impermanence. Talmudi’s words take flight from the mouth of Buttering Trio vocalist KerenDun, twirling around the levitating melody of his Nepalese flute.

OUT NOW ✨ ‘Song For Leon’

The first single from 'Tide & Time’, the new release by Amir Bresler and Nitai Hershkovits, is dedicated to Bresler’s firstborn son. The intro opens a door to a quiet jungle kingdom right out of a Kipling book with Gilad Abro’s steady hand on the bass, keeping us rocking gently. Tender brushes cast their spell while the piano paints a soft cradle for us to lie in.

2024 🌊 This year has no doubt been the most challenging year in the history of the label. The emotional turmoils have their way and the difficulty to hold the thread of love is apparent. And while everything changes, we also feel the deep need to keep making and releasing music as long as we are able. And the music is colored with grief, hope, sorrow, joy, simplicity and complexity. It holds all the contradictions that the mind cannot.

With a prayer for peace, within and without, of ending the war, of love arriving to the darkest corners where it’s most needed, a prayer that we may remember in the most extreme moments that we have a choice.
With gratitude to our artists, co-workers and supporters for their light.

Taking a moment to appreciate what has been, as we all long for some good news now and then, presenting the 12 releases that managed to manifest this year.

‘Greening’ by Tipula is OUT NOW

The album took shape as Eldar Brantman and Dana Dunietz began playfully fusing trip-hop, vocal jazz, and classic funk in Eldar’s home studio. With no deadline in sight, slowly Greening emerged. These eight tracks sound like two friends enjoying each other, trading melodies between keys and vocals, bouncing over the bassline.

‘The Garden Suite’ by Nitai Hershkovits & Daniel Dor

Nitai & Daniel tunnel into and explore a mystifying, experimental, Moog-based sound with The Garden Suite, their second full collaboration after Dor’s Four Petals. Taking cues from synth pioneer Malcolm Cecil, the duo created their Suite with patience and curiosity — pushing the boundaries of sound, mapping melodies onto rhythmic patterns. “Sitting late at night, going deep on the keys felt like a ceremony,” says Hershkovits.

For this unique release, we're happy to announce a debut collaboration between Raw Tapes and Circus Company to press a limited-edition vinyl, now available for pre-order.

‘Not only me’ by Tipula is OUT NOW

The second single from Tipula’s upcoming LP, Greening, sounds like an updated jazz standard. “It’s a break-up song, offering out to the world something that gave me so much joy” says singer Dana Dunietz. See it as a winking invitation to release, exhale and unite.

‘Waltz of the Clocks’ by Nitai Hershkovits & Daniel Dor is OUT NOW

For the second single from their forthcoming album, The Garden Suite, Nitai and Daniel present a choreographed interplay of musical clocks, where melodies emerge as they beat in and out of sync. The result is a glimpse into the innovative, almost alchemical process that defines The Garden Suite.

Full album drops November 13th. Vinyl available December 13th ~ debut collaboration of Raw Tapes x Circus Company.

‘Hidden Glow' by Nitai Hershkovits & Daniel Dor is OUT

Nitai & Daniel grew this first single out of their upcoming album, from a feeling. “It’s an orange-yellow summer sensation,” says Hershkovits. “You’re there, outside in the garden.” The duo composed the track with layered Moog synthesizers; two minutes of airy synth tones fluttering and twirling. The tune challenges jazz’s aversion to bright major key sounds. “We’re luring people through the heart,” he says. “Nothing to be shy about.”

Waiting Places (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) by Daskal is OUT

"Waiting Places" is a Modern Dance show by Bobbi Jene Smith and Or Meir Schraiber, created and performed in Copenhagen in March 2024. Yonatan Daskal wrote and performed the music in collaboration with Betty Nansen Teatret (Copenhagen) and dancers from the Royal Danish Ballet.

MEET: Tipula

If you were a fly on the wall of Eldar Brantman’s Tel Aviv apartment, you’d see the pianist/producer and his bandmate, singer/songwriter Dana Dunietz, laughing, writing and exploring their smoothed-out, jazz-influenced jams. That’s the idea behind Tipula. The duo is named after the large, wall-dwelling insects that watched the mellow, smoke-wafting hangs that gave birth to their Raw Tapes debut, 'Greening'. Tipula is the sound of ease and connection; music to fill up a room of friends with joy.

Announcing: A new collaboration between Producer/keyboardist Nitai Hershkovits and Drummer/multi-instrumentalist Daniel Dor.

Nitai has been releasing music on Raw Tapes for a while now - between his debut ‘I Asked You A Question’ LP from 2016 and today, he’s played on at least half a dozen projects and guest appearances including the all-time gem ‘Flyin’ Bamboo’. Nitai has also been releasing music on ECM, so needless to say he's been busy. Topping this with another immense talent - Daniel Dor; who joined us last year with his timeless (yet timeful) creation ‘Four Petals’ LP. An art piece in the full sense - an album dedicated to percussion mandalas, which he calls The Flower: polyrhythmic, multi-part patterns that fall into sync and out of sync — sacred geometry reimagined as music. The album was produced by Nitai and marked the beginning of this collaboration - now unfolding in their new forthcoming album titled ‘The Garden Suite’. First single drops next week ~ stay tuned.
