I am glad we didn't breach 100 hours for this one. The RNG was not RNG-ing most of the time.

In general, it's a fun, pretty game and flight mechanic. If it wasn't these three basic criteria, I probably would have dropped it after finishing the main campaign, but I figured these characteristics would carry me through to 100% achievements.

You do feel its state of undeath when you get into the grind of achievement hunting as there isn't much content variety to keep you entertained throughout.

And that's not even entirely true. There were a TON of things I could do, BUT I could only really reliably engage in the missions I could solo, as going into public missions meant that I would lose frames significantly the moment another player was in range. Literally, in hunting for collectibles only present in the Public Freeplay mode, every time another player crosses my path, the game just chokes.

Buy for the black friday sale price if you're interested. Be prepared for a terribly optimized game even after graphic settings have been adjusted, not much content, but pretty good-looking cast of characters, generous auto-aim, and easy flight controls.

or just play Warframe.

I mention the generosity of the auto-aim (and enemy hitboxes) as well as the ease of controls during flight because these "easy mode" things are a boon when you are constantly losing enough frames to threaten your survivability in missions. haha. The game on Normal Mode is pretty survivable. On the occasions that the game becomes a PowerPoint presentation in the middle of a horde, your Javelin should be tanky enough to survive. But sometimes, I want to be in harder difficulties to increase loot droprate to speed up my achievement grind. And that's when I just get smooshed the moment I can't react properly because the game starts playing at the statue challenge.

Personally, I got this after giving it a go via GamePass. I fell in love with its look and flight mechanic and could not let it go. This game has me gripped and I was determined to play it. BUT I was not willing to pay full price for it. When its Legion of Dawn edition price dropped during the most recent Black Friday sale, I grabbed it, no hesitation, no ragrets.

I really didn't have to, but getting it 100% achievement was so I could be sure I've scratched that itch this game has cast upon me, and I could say for certain I have given this game a more than fair shot. Still no ragrets in spending nigh-100 hours on it. I just have a surface-level disappointment that this game was abandoned.

After almost 70 hours and 4 separate playthroughs, we have:
100% achievement completion!!!

Funnily enough, Code Vein is my 1st soulslike game to 100%, though it is not the 1st soulslike I've actually played.
Nioh 1 is at 39%, Nioh 2 is at 53%, Elden Ring is at 92%.

Souls-LITE though, if we count Jedi Fallen Order, that would be my actual first.

CV, though enjoyable, is not my favorite among those I've played. It's got very anime writing with a lot of convoluted dialogue that could be easily trimmed, torturously paired with almost everyone talking in a very slow-paced manner.

The fighting itself is fun! And that's really what made +3 more playthroughs actually bearable. Regardless, it had a convenient list of achievements that I saw now issue in accomplishing quickly. So I thought, let's do this. We ended up not even breaching 100 hours.

The game had pretty simple, straightforward achievements, without the need to rely on guides or walkthroughs to do most of them.

The Alt Endings are probably the most complicated, but the moment you have the merest hint of how to get them, you won't really need further details. Walkthroughs just help you find the requirements faster, but even if you forget where some things are, it's still very doable without them.

Full disclosure, from the midpoint of my 2nd playthrough onwards, I did use a mod to help me breeze through fights quickly. It's a mod that bypasses the limit of having only 1 companion. Basically, you can choose to have all 7 unlockable companions with you at all times.

Adding in the mod was because 1. This was a soulslike game, and I'm a bad souls player, so tipping the victory towards my favor helped maintain my sanity. 2. Every cutscene featured ALL of my companions fighting against the baddies. But when it cut to player-controlled fights, it was just you and ONE companion. So I wanted to see how the fights went as they were represented on cutscenes.

Despite this, however, the boss fights themselves still felt challenging. You have no real way of telling if a boss is locked onto you or your companions, and they are anime-fast, if you know what I mean. So I still blacked out a lot when the boss suddenly decided to look at me. So there was still a bit of difficulty-related challenge across all playthroughs.

One thing I noted on subsequent playthroughs is that even though you can set the NG+ difficulty to the same difficulty as the original playthrough, I can still get merked after 1 or 2 hits from a boss. In any case, the mod helped kind of keep that a fairly balanced occurrence.

As with most (if not all) achievement-hunting, among the list was to grind for a specific item. You had to get 400 of this. Defeating bosses with a real online co-op player will guarantee this, and I was very fortunate to have The_Runic_Druid accompany me on this journey. There's another way to do it when solo, and it's the most repetitive aspect of the game: a boss gauntlet. From 0-400, you would have to do the hardest gauntlet 40x. I did this off-stream, with a long-form YouTube video playing in the background to keep me sane throughout this process.

Overall, I enjoyed the game, especially since I could just skip the boring, sluggish cutscenes after the 1st playthrough, as that was the only thing I truly did not enjoy.

Finally, much, much gratitude to mukinanashi, irl friend and mod, for gifting me this game 100 years ago. I finally got to play it and I truly had a great time. Thank you!

YES.

tl;dr Regardless of your reason, playing on Easy is fine. A gamer is a person who plays games, period.

RELATED: Recently had to do this on my final achievement for - Remedy.

The "Crisis Management" achievement where you have to 'Complete 5 Bureau Alerts' is bugged. You CANNOT quit the game once you've started the 1st Alert otherwise the counter will restart.

Bureau Alerts are like limited-time missions that last for 20 minutes and then get replaced by another mission. So assuming that you have no issues, the whole ordeal requires you to be in-game for 1hr36mins.

But on top of this bug, the game is also not very optimized. So at random times, the game may crash, triggered by a whole host of things (a boss spitting thousands of clocks, for example).

Multiple times, I've had my counter at 4/5 and then the game crashed. So I just enabled the game's native Assist Mode, activated Immortality and One-Shot Kill, so at least I can finish the achievement with as few problems as possible. As I'm also not sure if dying counts as "resetting" a game session. (Game still crashed 2x tho haha. so it still took a while.)

Fortunately, the game, though intended to be played on default difficulty (the game gave me 2 warnings before allowing me to enable Assist Mode), does not have any achievement attached to difficulty level.

Did it feel weird adjusting the difficulty? Yeah, honestly. But only because I've played 99% of the game without having to change it. But realizing this final 1% wasn't worth white-knuckling because of pride or "integrity" or whatever freed me from it, and allowed me to get to 100% without ending up hating a game I legit love.

A reminder that gaming is for everybody ❤️ 🎮

I don't normally stream with my we**am on, so this gives me an opportunity to design a cavalcade of avatars to represent me on stream.

The newest is this goblin + Raziel + Kain mix of an avatar that was commissioned by fellow streamer The_Runic_Druid, who had me hyped for this 90s classic game.

And lemme tell ya, once I figured out how to feed, the fun ramped up to 1000%.

Another game done, and this one has easily become one of my all-time favorites, despite only one (50-hour) playthrough.

Don't let the janky looks deceive you folks, this is probably better than most "Choices Matter, Sci-Fi, Stealth" games in recent years.

(4.5/5⭐) ABSOLUTE best in the franchise and probably the genre. Great demonstration of the "Mess around and find out" type of gameplay. or "What does this button do? Where does this vent go?" The freedom in deciding which path towards the objective you want to take is mindblowing considering how o...

Finished Deus Ex: Mankind Divided after 40.4 hours (a huge portion of it sitting in the train loading screen) and 24% Achievement Completion.

Some quick thoughts:
janky, poorly optimized game. obviously quickly made to milk the franchise.
worst gunplay mechanics I've had in my limited exp in FPS games.
but when the OG mechanics pop up here and there, i loved it.
also, worth suffering through most of the jank to get the Pacifist achievement!

UPDATE!
Last week, we were able to finish Dead Island, so its time slot will now be replaced by a 2nd playthrough of Assassin's Creed: Black Flag!

We shall be doing Deus Ex: Mankind Divided instead of OG Deus Ex, because of lost file issues. lmao.

Originally wanted to continue my playthrough of Deus Ex (the very first one), but when I reinstalled it, my save file (worth 35 hours) is gone. quirk of an old game, I guess. so let's just play the latest and last installment in the franchise instead: Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

Maybe after this we'll circle back to the first one. lol.
