AIRPLANE TESSELATION. After designing the pajarita tessellation, the obvious next step was the airplane tessellation. Much simpler. VOG paper.

Every designer has a box full of half finished models with potential to become interesting. Going through the papers I found a base that promised to become a leon. A couple of nice tweaks after it became this model. The base is so well suited to fold a lion that it might as well be called a 'lion base'.

Todos los diseñadores tenemos una caja llena de modelos a medio hacer con posibilidades. Revisando los papeles encontré una base que en su día prometía para poder hacer un león. Me puse a ello y con un par de retoques llegué a este modelo. La base se adapta tan bien a hacer un león sencillo que bien podría llamarse 'base león'.

This design belongs to those models that in the beginning are between I like it, I don´t like it. You discover you DO like it when you fold the last steps and it gets its own personality. Together with my 'cubist cat', similar in style, they are part of the scene I call 'Like cat and dog'.

Este diseño forma parte de esas figuras que al principio no sabes muy bien si te gusta o no. Descubres que sí cuando haces esos últimos pliegues que le dan toda la personalidad. Junto con mi gato cubista, que también es del estilo, forma el conjunto que he bautizado como 'Como el perro y el gato'.

The quickdraw is one of the key safety elements when climbing, allowing the rope to run freely through bolt anchors or other protection while leading. A quickdraw consists of two carabiners connected by a semi-rigid material. This origami model is a simple representation of a quickdraw. It has a locking mechanism that allows it to withstand weights of more than two pounds before opening if a strong paper with wetfolding is used. That's the fun of the model.

CINTA EXPRESS
La cinta express es uno de los elementos de seguridad más importantes cuando se escala, uniendo al escalador a la pared y a la cuerda. Una cinta express consiste en dos mosquetones unidos por una cinta semirígida. Este modelo de origami es una representación sencilla de una cinta express. Tiene un mecanismo de trabado que le permite aguantar pesos de hasta 3 Kg si se dobla con un papel fuerte en húmedo y se deja secar. Esa es la gracia principal del modelo.
