My experience in documentary filmmaking has been a search. Seeking hidden stories and bringing them to light. This exploration is not about finding content. It's about crafting stories that engage and inspire.
Often the most challenging part is committing to an idea and seeing it come to fruition. This is where I see many aspiring filmmakers fail. They start buzzing with inspiration. But as things get hard, they give up on their idea. They might start a new search for another idea, but that often ends similarly.
Documentary storytelling serves as a powerful tool for filmmakers. It gives us a platform to share impactful narratives that resonate globally. In this battle, filmmaker motivation plays an important role. It helps craft narratives that can change perceptions and inspire action. It dictates what story we choose to focus on. So, what story pulls you in?
I didn't realize I loved making documentaries until I started my first one. My journey through film school and later projects convinced me this was my path.
