It represents a way to distinguish my artistic activity from that as a commercial photographer. Nasty is my vision, strictly and proudly monochrome. What about the title of the project? It is a clear referement to the statement of Daido Moriyama: “I want to do a lot of nasty photos” and I think that describes perfectly also my philosophy and approach to the photographic medium. Don’t expect nice a
nd reassuring pictures here. There are my dreams and my nightmares, there is the documentation of life but filtered through my eyes, my mood, my state of mind. What is the Nasty project? NASTY is a complex project that will include several products. NASTY is first of all my blog on tumblr, focused on my vision, therefore presenting just my personal photography:

Starting from this, NASTY is:
- A magazine ebook (iPad iBooks format) containing my vision that will be published through blurb and available on Apple store for iPad;
- A series of printed books. With NASTY I’ll be able to share my photographs in a simple way. My focus is always beenthe publication of books. Even if I do not forget other forms of communication for my photographic work (exhibitions for example) I prefer in absolute a book as ideal dimension to present my shots. Because a book is forever.I consider ebooks a new way to read and create books. How will it be done NASTY? Nasty will always be with a minimalist layout. Photos without words because the idea is to follow the approach of PROVOKE, the legendary and enormously influential photobooks founded by Koji Taki and Nakahira Takuma in late 1968 and to which Daido Moriyama has contributed joining the group for their second issue. “Fragmented images that completely demolished the established aesthetic and grammar of photography.” This was their legacy, and that words still sound like a revelation and a constant inspiration. The disposition of the images is only apparently random. Actually the order of the images reveals a definite reading of any book. How much it will cost NASTY? NASTY ebook version (the heart of the project) will keep always a cheap price. This is because is “just my photos” and because my focus is sharing my vision with my followers. And then why is not for free? Because my work however needs to be valued. Issue 0 is out for free, but my time, my energy and my images can’t be sell for 0 dollars.
