happy birthday to me, my fire and the softness that I’ve learned to balance it with. here’s a few things I’ve said to myself over the years:

16 - it’s ok if your entire sense of humour isn’t repeating lines from tv shows like some of the guys… I still think you’re funny
18 - turns out you’re actually way funnier
19 - mhm you’re definitely gay
21 - the rumours are true. you are a drama queen
22 - you shouldn’t have to wear a long skirt just because men are creeps
23 - no one needs to drink doubles
24 - you don’t actually have to wear a skirt at all if you don’t want to
25 - is this what it feels like to have a certain level of control over the functions of my frontal lobe
26 - let’s try a little softness
27 - I’ve decided you can finally free yourself from being too afraid to try something new because you’re “too old now”

thanks for being with me through the dreams and the mistakes and the laughs and the growth. looking forward to learning more things this year that make me look back and think “wow was I ever wrong about that” and learning others that make me even more sure of myself.

some advice from me to you? give yourself a hug a little more often. you’re really just that cute baby who was sh*tting your diaper just trying to do life and I think you’re doing a pretty damn good job all things considered.

In all seriousness, the Kickstarter for my next *not-so-short* film launched yesterday. We just passed 20% funded but we have a long way to go. I try my best to pump out the free content from podcasts to gay girl tips to pointing you in the direction of q***r spaces and it’s a whole lotta work honestly and I need your help on this one. To make it happen we need a couple thousand of you to give $10 (or more! there are some pretty awesome rewards. or less! every $1 counts for real). And then we can get to the fun stuff like casting (and the tears and sleepless nights of making an indie film but you can leave that part to me!). If you can’t donate, I totally get it.
