This was a war that the California Department of Corrections had successfully hid from society, including the government. Between 1983 and 1985 C-section at San Quentin State Prison was considered one of the most dangerous prison section in the country, both Prisoners and Guards were murdered in this section.
C-section had five tiers, the fifth and fourth tier was Death Row ,but it was tier one through three where the Gauntlet War took place (Note: Though D-Section in San Quentin State Prison was also engaged in the Gauntlet War,but it was C-section where the Gauntlet was much more dangerous. A brief illustration of what I am referring to: Each time a Prisoner leaves his cell,he is forced to duck and dodge spears, cross bows, zip guns (occasionally a real gun),bombs. The most deadliest act of war in this unit was when a Prisoner cut his cell bars and squeeze out of his cell and attack you with a knife;another move when your enemy would tricked the guard he live in your cell while you are in the exercise yard and hide under your bed, then when you come back ,he jumped out and attack you before the guards can take the handcuffs off.
Keep in mind, this took place in the hole,so every time we leave our cells we are hand cuffed behind our backs.
This pamphlet is only a brief example of a story I told.
I am one of few who is still around to talk about it, there's not many of us.
(Note:I had a bomb tossed in my cell during this time, but I was prepared for it,I seen them coming . I also got shot with a cross bow in the back, but I am here, and I remain steadfast).
