Illuminating the Northern Zone: Senator Amos Yohanna’s Solar Street Light Initiative

In a commendable effort to enhance the quality of life in Adamawa North Senatorial District, Senator Amos K. Yohanna continues to fulfill his promises to his constituents by embarking on a comprehensive solar street light installation project.

Following closely on the heels of his recent empowerment program for 142 women and youths across the five local government areas, Senator Yohanna has now shifted his focus to illuminating the region, with the installation of solar-powered street lights across major streets and key locations in the district.

Senator Yohanna’s solar street light initiative is more than just an infrastructure project; it is a visionary step towards fostering security, enhancing community well-being, and promoting sustainable development.

Recognizing the challenges that inadequate lighting poses to the safety and security of residents, especially in rural areas, by illuminating streets, religious centers, health facilities, village markets, and schools, this initiative will not only deter criminal activities but will also improve the overall quality of life for the residents.

The strategic placement of these lights in public spaces reflects Senator Yohanna’s deep understanding of the needs of his constituents. In an area where access to reliable electricity remains a significant challenge, solar-powered street lights offer a practical and sustainable solution.

The solar street light installation project is already underway, with engineers on-site planting the bases for the lights. The proper installation phase is scheduled to begin on Monday, marking the start of a new chapter in the Senator’s commitment to infrastructural development and community empowerment.

This project is set to have a lasting impact, offering residents the benefits of improved visibility and safety during the night, which in turn can boost economic activities and social interactio

Gov AbdulRazaq flag off distribution of farm inputs to additional 10,000 farmers

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has flagged off the distribution of improved seeds, chemicals, and fertilisers to 10,000 farmers across the 16 local government areas of the state to grow crops in their farms in this farming season.

While underscoring the essence of the gesture, AbdulRazaq stressed that it is part of the administration’s efforts to encourage bumper harvest and promote food security in the state and the country.

The government had recently targeted 600,000 households, including small-scale farmers, in its recent distribution of farm implements and other supports.

Speaking in Ilorin at the launch of the distribution of farm inputs (3rd batch) to local farmers, the Governor, who observed that farmers are the backbone of food security and sustainable economic growth, further pointed out, “This administration is committed to addressing the challenges in the agricultural sector. Farmers are recognised as the backbone of food security and economic growth. Hence, a rigorous farmer registration process has been set up, ensuring that only genuine farmers benefit.”

He disclosed that, “the first batch of the Special Rice Intervention Programme assisted 3400 real farmers with quality seeds, fertilisers, and agrochemicals, resulting in significant increases in rice production.

“With the second phase (FADAMA NG CARES), 600,000 beneficiaries are receiving support, including boats, seeds, agrochemicals, power tillers, and grinding machines. This initiative aims to make agricultural productivity more robust and widespread.”

AbdulRazaq insisted that his government is also committed to boosting livestock productivity and market access through its Livestock Productivity and Enhancement Scheme campaigns in the state.

“By supporting farmers, food security is ensured, jobs created, and economic growth is sustained,” he added.

OUR ADMINISTRATION IS FOCUSED ON REVIVING OSUN’S COCOA INDUSTRIES – GOVERNOR ADELEKE

Osun State Governor, Sen. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has on Tuesday reiterated his commitment to revive Cocoa Industries with a target to be the first Cocoa producing State in Nigeria.

This was disclosed in the Governor’s remarks at a meeting with a Chinese team of investors, from Wuxi Huadong Cocoa Food Co. Ltd, who were on a two-day working visit to the state.

The, company’s Managing Director, Mr. Yan Weiqing, who expressed satisfaction after the site inspection at the moribund Cocoa industry at Ede, had promised to rebuild the Cocoa Processing facility and bring in new equipment for the progress of Mr. Governor’s industrialization agenda.

According to the Governor, “in January this year, I launched the Cocoa revival initiative of this administration. The state’s plan covers revival of old cocoa plantations, planting of, at least, a million seedlings and development of processing factories for new cocoa products. Our agenda extends to developing partnership with agro industrial firms, from far and near”.

“Our government is particularly focused on reviving the state’s Cocoa Industries limited. We seek to go beyond becoming the first Cocoa producing State in Nigeria. We target producing and exporting Cocoa products. That explains why we are determined to revive our Cocoa Industry and even establish new factories”, he said.

The Governor who described the presence of the Chinese team as a welcome development, said, “it is to that end that we welcome your offer of partnership. We are open to a Memorandum of Understanding for the revival of the industry located at Ede, Osun State. I am therefore directing the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry as well as the Attorney General of the State to look into this matter and work out a partnership deal”.
