I was talking with Carbonite Matt about why he organizes his events. It dawned on me that our Dire States events share something in common that is hard to find anywhere else. We get to gather some of the best folks in this hobby and share great times together.

Remember Rumble on Route 66? Those were good times with friends from all over the world. There was a vibe we all shared during the events. Is Showdown the new Rumble? Oh heavens no! I don’t think we’ll ever see any event like that again but we can certainly keep spirit going.

For Showdown, this year and every year, the organizers don’t really care who makes it to top tables. We want to see everyone having fun, seeing old friends, making news ones, and seeing who survives to day two. We want to hear all about those last order Hail Marry attempts that hinge on the dice. We want to see your painting skills that had you up until 2 AM the night before. Basically, the goal of Showdown is for everyone who comes to have a good time.

When you come to Showdown bring with you the stories of your hobby journey and let’s make some new ones.
