Rounding out our list we need to return to the start of 2020 with the Morninglasses remix of the Martin Landsky single 'Attitude'. Working with the core values and genre of the original, their take has a faster feel driven by 16th note hi hats and though the addition of airy and floaty pad lines. They have applied the clever use of the vocals as a textural element. A fantastic remix to round out our best of 2020 & 2021.

Motek favourite Marcus Sur delivered an intricate and classy production on his take of 'Posh Sabo'. From an atmosphere building instrumental opening the track maintains a very spacious setting where the interlocking parts of this remix dance around each other creating varied rhythmical exchanges and groove. Live elements in the bass mix with the synth leads and stabs that are all joined together with the glitches and click of the percussion.

MTK053 saw the return of the fantastic Just Her , with 'Quiet Anguish'. The single conjures classic House elements with jazzy feelings on top of the modern cutting breakbeat. Soft pads move around piano stabs and licks providing focal points amongst the crisp groove play and vocal effects. With this orchestration a freshness was found, each part given space to breath in the mix and so allowing subtle syncopation between sections.

From Bangkok by way of South African, Kuroten Music cracks our list with 'Talking in Technicolour'. He has delivered a track full of luscious soundscapes that truly create a vision of 'Talking In Technicolour'. Acid notes line the track that sit on a selection of ebb and flow pads pulsing whilst slowly growing and opening up as the track progresses. The track is finished with a spoken word vocal that ties the production together. While the release came with three unique remixes, the original is still our favourite.

DANSOR stepped up on MT055 with her melodic remix of Allies For Everyone.

After an atmosphere building instrumental, Dansor ramped up the original to the peak hour. Faster moving parts within the beats section and stab synth 16th notes give the track this quicker feel while the arpeggiating lead drives the melodic overview of this remix. At times jarring synth play brings tension and release into a mix that manages to expertly blend warmth and punch.

Carl Finlow was dialed in on MTK056 when he delivered his remix Stevie R & Parisinos track 'Posh Sabo'.

Carl kept the feel of the original and added his electro flavour to the mix. Ever evolving drone pads and reverbs create the feeling of space in which the synth plucks and leads can dance. Through this, the remix is provided with a lot of bounce. The vocal has been used to add more low end weight to the mix after being cut down and set back to become another imposing rhythmic element.

Chris_llopis is a highly accomplished producer with a feel for the dancefloor that few others have. He has been making music since the 90s, with early releases on legendary progressive labels in Iboga Records and Tatsu. Following hot on the heels of his remix on our last release, we are extremely excited to announce Jay Tripwire returning to the label with his new EP ’Breathe’. This release sees Jay flexing his production skills on two lean originals, title track ‘Breathe’ and ‘Van Allen’.

‘Breathe’ takes a broken beat form full of tension through dissonant chord choices and sharp acidic arpeggiating sounds. A track full of punch, these elements drive the music forward creating a lively yet deep energy. In contrast ‘Van Allen’ is stripped back and minimal. The space is filled with simple intertwining textures and effects that dance around the mix creating intelligent and unexpected grooves throughout the arrangement.

Remixing on this release we have a strong Russian presence with duo Morninglasses, and Jackie Komutatsu, with closer to home TR20 finishing off this impressive lineup.

“I choose to not rest upon my reputation over the last 17 months, I choose to evolve myself artistically, I chose to come out of this stronger, and better than I went into it”.- Jay Tripwire.

During the pandemic- Jay focused entirely on his artform's of DJing and production.

”I felt like I was training for the next level of my career, I focused on honing all my skills and it gave me time to learn new methods, try new things and add new pieces to my hardware collection”.

The transition to a mostly hardware based studio has had a huge impact on the type of music coming out, it has a stripped down constantly evolving groove that has become a new signature sound, a sound that is designed solely for the dance floor and the DJ at the same time.

Premiered by our friends over at Les Yeux Orange, the rising Romanian stalwart Octave took things in a deeper direction on his remix of 'Many Years Ago' off MTK058. The playground is a softer environment with the acid lead removed. Octave's long pad work and swelling chords shape our surroundings as we drift off towards the horizon for this one.

MTK058 'Many Years Ago' EP features remixes from 3 of our favourite artists - Jay Tripwire , Chris_llopis and octave96.

Jay Tripwire has created a musical masterclass, spanning his arrangement over 10 mins. Controlling the ebb and flow of his work through subtle builds and take aways, the acid texture of the original has stayed and he has opened the soundscape with big reverbs and delays.

Octave has gone for a much deeper style. Full of long pad texture and swelling chord patterns. The acid lead has been removed leaving a softer musical pallet on which you can get lost listening to.

Finally Chris Llopis has brought a bouncy, funky feel to his remix. Syncopation between bass and kick mixed with chord stabs and soft synth pads create this sound and gets the head nodding from beat one.
