I can't count the amount of times we came close to tragedy over the years. You saw a hit-and-run accident, chased the runner, and got bested in the ensuing struggle when he had a knife.

When I was in college, after you beat cancer, you had a motorcycle wreck that nearly snatched you from this life. Getting shot at during the daily course of your job, and just everything else that could be filed under "just another day".

In your 66 and half years you taught me to be tougher than nails, to work hard, and to do what is right, especially when it is the hard thing to do.

I fought with you about everything from whether the sky was actually blue or not, to how the economy works, and if politicians were actually standing up for what they said they were.

I hope I was able to teach you even slightly as well as you taught me.

Listen, tragedy is coming for us all. We can't escape it. There will be moments, times, and even seasons when our hearts are ripped from us. When these times come, lean on everyone that you love, because yes, it is going to be horrible. But I promise you, being alone and sad is the worst.

One year without you Dad, and I'm still on the verge of tears at the mear thought of how much I miss you.

Building is difficult. Destruction is easy.

What sort of life are you looking to live? What existence do you want to have?

Slow it down, ask if what you are doing, who you are spending your time with, and what you focus on is serving you.

I will never cease to be in aw of performers. You can see how much they absolutely love what they do. How much of themselves they put into their craft.

I think that is why we all love different types of performers, athletes, etc. Because they chase their dreams.

The unconditional, absolute, and unwavering love of an animal.

For those who don’t know, when Korra was a baby floof she was found in a hotel room in Arvada, Colorado that was being used as a puppy mill. She, her 2 siblings, and 16 or so other puppies were days away from death. Korra’s spine was protruding through the skin on her back. Animal control found and rescued her, a friend of a friend fostered her and her siblings, I was lucky enough to be thought of as a potential adopter, and dispute my “better judgement” I feel in love and adopted the first of the wolf pack.
