The Mission Statement of Pretty Vacant zine is to stand apart from other publications by seeking out creative genius and giving a voice to all those who feel disenfranchised by the mainstream media. Any average person can have published any creative work they send in. This is why as you can see browsing previous issues we published poetry, photography and essays (or rants, if you want to call them
so) by seemingly ordinary people who have something very important to say and their own light that needs to shine. There is no reason fans of rock n roll shouldn’t have equal recognition. This is why we publish interviews with everyday fans, so that the bands out in the world that impact our lives can meet ordinary people like us, and see the impact their music and art have made on the world. Issues of social justice, inequality and humanitarian aide deserve equal recognition as well, and we hope in the next installment of the zine to make this a significant priority of the zine. With the same passion for finding little known rock bands around the world and bringing them exposure, it is equally important to me to give this recognition and voice to artists of all mediums – be it painting, sculpture, performance art, even low-budget independent fashion designers. These individuals have voices and talents and brilliant minds that can give even the average person hope for the world through their creative genius. Let’s give them a microphone and their space on the world stage.
