Three years ago this month, I began my journey at FOX 17. I remember getting the call from my soon-to-be news director when he offered me the position to be the weekend/weekday morning news reporter. I couldn't believe it and was thrilled to continue my career in my home state. Looking back on the past three years, I'm so thankful. I've had career highlights, personal milestones, and made amazing memories with people I met during my time in West Michigan. That's what I'll miss most - the people. I'll miss them because today is my last day at FOX 17. Not only am I celebrating a work anniversary, but an exciting new chapter in my life. I will be moving to Boston next week!

I want to thank my co-workers turned friends, people who have shared their stories with me, and the FOX 17 viewers! Without you, I wouldn't have truly enjoyed the last three years and found it bittersweet to walk away. With that said, I'm so excited to start a new chapter on the east coast.

NEW THIS MORNING: Live outside of the Abbott plant in Sturgis where production of its Elecare specialty baby formula has been halted AGAIN. This time, due to flooding inside the facility from severe weather earlier this week. New production and distribution could be delayed by a few weeks, according to the company. FOX 17

Firefighters wrapping up their work around 4:30am Thursday after the animal barn at Nelis' Dutch Village caught fire. The barn is severely damaged but thankfully all animals were freed and unharmed, according to Ottawa County Dispatch. Cause is unknown. FOX 17

The 20 minute video showing a GRPD officer fatally shoot Patrick Lyoya has officially been released by GRPD and city officials. Chief Winstrom said he is not naming the officer who shot and killed Lyoya because he hasn’t been charged and he doesn’t name suspects.

Businesses in downtown Grand Rapids taking precautionary steps to protect their shops ahead of the video release (3pm today) showing the footage of a GRPD officer fatally shooting last week on Monday. Chief Winstrom tells FOX 17 he does not plan to release the officers name at this point in the investigation. A protest is scheduled for 5pm today.
