Tonight on Hindsight: Lost in 2023
Some big names passed last year, but just as sad, many less-celebrated artists critical to the continuing evolution of modern music did as well. Tonight on Hindsight we'll celebrate those lesser-known individuals alongside some you most certainly already know.

This week on Hindsight: Bye-bye David Bowie - Part 2

We ended Part 1 at Bowie's fulcrum in 1980 where the mad genius appeared to swing from off-kilter alt rocker to pop god, but did he? Digging past the mainstream, we'll pluck incredible gems from his 2nd half, including several of the many modest collaborations he sought, purely on his passion for the art, and his sincere appreciation for the talent of others.

Plus, what's so rarely known of this very serious icon was his unshakable sense of humor - deadpan, and as friend Ricky Gervais put it, general "mucking about". In the clip below from Gervais' brilliant show, "Extras", Ricky wrote the words and David, the tune.

This week on Hindsight:
The Incredible Guitar of the Late Jeff Beck, "The Guitarists Guitarist"

I got to work on this after Jeff Beck passed away in January, and only now do i feel like it's finally ready. As merely a guitar "owner" myself (i also dust them now and then), i barely understand what i'm hearing him do on that thing, but at the same time, can't BELIEVE what i'm hearing him do. Similar to Hendrix playing his right-handed guitar upside-down, Beck reinvented the application of the electric guitar, using it in ways it never expected to be used, and the results are beautiful, terrifying, mesmerizing, and energizing, and never less than astonishing.

Permanently just under the radar, Jeff Beck is a perfect candidate for our show, so this week i'm bringing you a thorough sampling of his entire career. If you're wondering what to expect, mostly his music falls into the category of "killer", occasionally "freakin' killer", or "badass".

Friday on Hindsight: "22 Redux!" (Lost in 2022, rebroadcast)
Mental and technical difficulties defied successful airing of this show last week, but all that's sorted now, so join me in celebrating these amazing artists who brought so many of us so much for so long.

Every January, Hindsight pays tribute to those who rocked our world, but sadly had to leave it the year before. Aside from the mainstream names, we try to delve into those overlooked and underplayed who may have not made the news.

This week on Hindsight: The Best of the Rest of The B-52s!
(Are they a Veteran’s Day theme…?)

Famous bomber aside, The B-52s have been a household name for decades, so one might not think “overlooked” when considering Kate, Cindy, and Fred’s contributions to modern rock, but “underplayed”? Oh c’mon guys, HECK yeah when you consider how amazing their supporting songs were compared to the average band. Seriously, how many album tracks have you forever tolerated, waiting for the really GOOD song to play because your cassette track-search feature was crap, or WORSE, you didn’t want to manually search for fear of accidentally hearing a chunk of it, ruining the moment?! Well The B-52s toss those beats into the garbage can and just rock the good stuff, full stop. In fact, I declare every track on their debut album was right up there with its galactic hit, Rock Lobster. (He DIDN’T…)

Their interstellar guitarist, Ricky Wilson (brother to singer, Cindy), tragically died of AIDS in 1985 leaving a horrible, sudden silence in the most upbeat, quirky band we’d ever heard. As a result of his contribution, the 4+ albums he completed with them were easily their artistic best, so were gonna spend a couple hours with everything pre-Love Shack, and wiggle the mirror-fleck popcorn right off the ceiling with the best of the rest of the B-52s!

This Halloween week on Hindsight:
THE MOST TERRIFYING SONGS YOU'VE EVER HEARD!

This week, my guest, Sarah Lawndart and i coax your deepest, darkest fears to the surface as we unearth the worst songs ever recorded that never should have lived, and JUST. WON'T. DIE.
(Johnny, why would anyone listen to that?) Shut-up!
Then, for each audio assault, we will allow the assailant to redeem themselves with some of the best music in rock befitting to Hindsight-listener scrutiny.

Some artists just suck and there is no forgiving their offenses, but this show features only they of quality... and the steamin' turds they may have dropped along their way.

(Very excited... VERY EXCITEDDD!)
This week on Hindsight: Laurie Anderson
KUPR (Mighty) Low-Power FM, 99.9 MHz

She began warping our minds in the late '70s with her poignant, comical, no-need-for-acid acid-trip musical performance art, and as a result, by 2003, became NASA's first "artist in residence"... yeah, it's a thing. Nearly a decade after that, it appears Spotify has awarded her the - no doubt, coveted - "verified artist" check mark (see pic), which i'm sure she's just over the moon about...

With every note, a surprise, and every lyric, unpredictable, Laurie Anderson's approach to music only BEGINS at brilliant songs. The choreographic depth of her live performances combined with the multitude of instruments she has invented (then learned to play) is nothing short of BANANAS.

This Wednesday night (then repeated on Saturday) we're gonna lay down a VERY carefully curated cross-section of her most engrossing audio work, the range of which simply cannot be categorized, so you'll really have to check it out to hear just what the hell i'm all *on* about here.
This stuff's so entertaining, it should be illegal.

Hindsight - Music Undeservedly Overlooked

Playing only the most excellent of overlooked and underplayed music, Hindsight digs weekly into what we may have missed while the parade floats of pop rumbled down mainstream. Musical genres that slipped through the cracks; individual musicians, so good with their specific talent, they should have their own club; artists so difficult to categorize they were undeservedly left at a whistle-stop. This is what we strive to unearth on Hindsight, accompanied by the most professional and riviting commentary supported by “facts” derived from only the best Wikipedia pages and heresay.
