The director gave an update on his planned reboot of “The Running Man,” Stephen King’s dystopian novel that inspired the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger movie of the same name. Wright explained that his film would not necessarily be a remake of the movie, but a more faithful adaptation of King’s novel, including parts that director Paul Michael Glaser omitted.

Wright is developing a film that would adhere more faithfully to Stephen King’s novel than the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger movie.

The kind of series inspired by Stephen King can run the gamut from horror to science fiction to simple human drama. Some series go far beyond the mandate of their source novels or stories, while others adapt the story as written by King, running for just a single season.
It's only natural that television would look to one of America's most prolific and enduring authors to inspire television series, especially as fantastical settings and characters are easier to achieve with modern visual effects.

Stephen King is a master of the thriller and horror genre and his works have been made into some TV shows that are definitely worth watching.

While stories about anthropomorphic fruit could certainly make a great kid’s TV show, there’s not enough material to make this poem its own movie. Though there are a few asides that could be creepy, it is more hopeful than most of King’s work. A movie based on this poem wouldn’t make it as part of his horror brand.

Stephen King can write truly haunting stories, and these ten particular novels would be impossible to make into a good horror movie.

Stephen King has shared more information about the archive and retreat on Facebook. “We are in the very beginning of planning the writers’ retreat at the house next door, providing housing for up to five writers in residence at a time,” he wrote. “The zoning change getting press coverage was the first step. We are one to two years away from an operating retreat. The archives formerly held at the University of Maine will be accessible for restricted visits by appointment only. There will not be a museum and nothing will be open to the public, but the archives will be available to researchers and scholars.”

The King family will be turning their Bangor, Maine, home into an archive and retreat.

Another challenge to quantifying King is that the best and worst are obvious to the point of predictability. The Stand, It, and The Shining jockey for number one like Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman competing for best DC Superhero. The clunky ones are also evident, even to King, who seems to hold his nose when Dreamcatcher or The Tommyknockers comes up.

Any list of Stephen King favorites reveals something about who people are—and what they fear most.
