First Carl Weathers now Mojo Nixon. Ease up a little 2024. The cult rocker was the genius behind such classic bangers as "Jesus At McDonald's," "Debbie Gibson is Pregnant with My Two Headed Love Child." And--of course--"Elvis Is Everywhere." He also did a killer album in 1994 with Jello Biafra on Alternative Tentacles called "Prairie Home Invasion." His music was clean but his lyrics weren't and we were better for it. Best be blastin' all the Mojo Nixon in your collection tonight. And if you don't got Mojo Nixon. . .

Hey, I’m Catherine Elizabeth Pierson (born April 27, 1948) and I’m American singer, lyricist, and founding member of the B-52's. She plays guitar, bass and various keyboard instruments. In the B-52s, she has performed alongside Cindy Wilson, Fred Schneider, Ricky Wilson, and Keith Strickland. In the early years, as well as being a vocalist, Pierson was the main keyboard player and performed on a keyboard bass during live shows and on many of the band's recordings, taking on a role usually filled by a bass guitarplayer, which differentiated the band from their contemporaries. This, along with Pierson's distinctive wide-ranging singing voice, remains a trademark of the B-52's' unique sound. Pierson has also collaborated with many other artists including the Ramones, Iggy Pop and R.E.M. Pierson possesses a soprano vocal range.

1984!

1984 was a heck of a year for '80s music lovers! Prince was in his prime. Footloose and Ghostbusters were both awesome movies as well as awesome songs. Van Halen was jumping up the charts with iconic songs and music videos from their aptly titled 1984 album, and Lionel Richie was saying hello to us....

A favorite!

Exactly forty years ago in 1983, the Men At Work single “Overkill” debuted on the Australian charts (March 28)

The Colin Hay-penned track was taken from “Cargo”, (the follow-up LP to their wildly successful debut LP “Business as Usual”), which was a hit in its own right, peaking at #1 in Australia, #2 in New Zealand, #3 in the US, and #8 in the UK.

Hay said of “Overkill”:

"That was the first song that I wrote where I thought that maybe I could actually make a living as a songwriter, perhaps.
I thought that was a good song that I'd written, one that will stand the test of time.
I felt at the time it had something to it.
I was very happy with that song."

“Overkill” peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100; #5 in Australia, and Top 10 in Canada, Ireland, and Norway.

The video was mostly shot in the Melbourne suburb of St Kilda which featured landmarks such as Esplanade Hotel (Melbourne) and the St Kilda Pier.
