Earning the title of WSOU's longest running specialty show, Street Patrol helps promote upcoming artists in the heavy metal / hard rock scene. Hosted by DJ Rylee and The Eagle. New submissions will be put through our favorite segment, Yank or Crank, where listeners call up and vote for the bands future on Street Patrol. If you, or someone you know, has a metal or hard rock band that would like to
be aired on WSOU's Street Patrol, protocol for the show is as follows:
1. Please send a CD with LYRICS to:
WSOU c/o Street Patrol
400 South Orange Ave
South Orange NJ 07079
or:
email the MP3 tracks directly to [email protected]
(DON'T FORGET TO ADDRESS IT TO WSOU STREET PATROL SO IT DOES NOT GET SENT TO THE UNIVERSITY BY MISTAKE)
2. After receiving this, the band will be in line for our segment called "Yank or Crank." This is when we play a track submission and the listeners decide whether the band stays or goes. Please keep in mind that bands are NEVER notified prior to being featured on this segment to reduce any unfair advantages. Also note that this process can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months due to the significant amount of submissions we receive daily. Please be patient. Bands cannot be requested before making it through the segment and no matter how many times it is attempted prior to Yank or Crank, it does NOT increase the chances of making it through nor does it increase the chances of being played on the segment sooner. The caller will simply receive the Street Patrol Yank or Crank protocol spiel as given now.
3. If "cranked," the band will be available upon request during Street Patrol only, which again, airs every Wednesday night from 8-10pm ET.The band WILL be notified via our page indicating a "crank" at facebook.com/wsoustreetpatrol. Also if "cranked," the band will be eligable for all of the perks that come with being on Street Patrol. Some examples are a spot on one of our presents shows, a chance to be played during regular rotation (aka L/cut), interviews, etc.
4. If "yanked," the CD is broken over air. Harsh, we know, but a tradition that has been with the show for decades. The band is NOT notified if "yanked."
