Pfft. Unlike Jaws that followed Mrs Brody across the ocean, Beryl decided to abandon her revenge quest and at the very last minute, she turned north and spared us.

We are thankful and now the hard part begins - hauling our s**t back up 18 flights of stairs since the elevator is still turned off.

But hey, at least our dinosaurs were tied up.

Joana was able to get internet early this morning as a wonderful cruiser lent their Starlink. I'm certain throughout today more and more pictures will emerge. Joanna only sent photos and video of our boat, Music & Lyrics. So I'm sorry I don't have anything else to provide.

We're making arrangements with her currently for her take our Starlink and our portable generator along with gasoline so that they have a way to keep connected and to take anything else from our boat that will help her and the locals. If anyone who has a vessel in the marina yard sees this, please let me know if you are okay doing the same. Right now our cruiser community needs to pull together to help, as we always do. Flashlights and batteries seem to be urgently needed.

As for M&L, she is dismasted. It's really hard to see the extent of damage, but it appears she tried to fly off the blocks and is now sitting on the rudder. We don't yet have an image of the backside, but we are pretty sure the solar arch and d**k flew away too.

Joana told us the vast majority of homes are without roofs and there is no way yet to know about the extent of lives lost. Best that speculation comes from official sources anyway.

I have zero reason to believe my boat came out unscathed. While I await confirmation, my gut is twisted in knots over the images coming out from WXChasing and the sheer devastation Carriacou has faced today. Please pray for the people and animals of this island. They have lost EVERYTHING. It's beyond humbling.

It's official: I'm a crazy cat lady.

This morning I woke up and saw what I thought was Ginger, climbing all crazy like up my side wall, trying to get up it (she can't, it's smooth stucco).

I realized she's too big to be Ginger and has spotted markings. Nay nay, this is a NEW kitten the CDS sent me. Literally falling into my life.

I'm guessing she's 3 months old and is an absolutely beautiful and inquisitive kitten. She's already let me pet her, feed her (thank you Rappi for the quick kitten food delivery), and wants to come inside. (NOPE)

(Ginger and Licorice are now old enough to eat kibble too and seem to enjoy it!)

I've named her Sweet Tea. Welcome to Casa de los Gatitos. 😂

Ut-Oh! The infamous Cat Distribution system has targeted me. 🎯
The kitties have learned how to escape the toaster oven.
Won't be long til they start exploring the terrace. And that's when I'll start panicking that they'll fall off the balcony.
Licorice got his foot stuck in a hole already, and Ginger is eager to travel (they both clearly take after me. 😹)
I'm torn. I'm planning to return to the USA for a few months next year and then back south of the border. I guess I have to start researching kitten transport...

Calle 47 off Paseo de Montejo - gastronomy alley...
First food adventure was at Anima, known for their smoked meats over an open fire. From the creative entrada, to the outdoor dining, the place did not disappoint.
We had smoked lamb, served with a chimichurri, and homemade tortilla, ribs with housemade pickles, barbacoa taco with what I believe is chevril (how on earth did they source that?!), Habichuelas (beans) with bacon, and wood fired lechuga (with a pistachio dressing and gran padano shavings).
Every single thing we tried was absolutely amazing. Erik's copa de Malbec was a great pairing and my Margaret (house specialty cocktail) suggest Margarita had a dalliance with Paloma.
Today we're off for the biciruta and more exploring.

Time for a couple weeks playing tourist and then another few months of settling in to life in Centro.

Erik's last few nights in Carriacou...
The sunset was just spectacular and there was no need for color correction.
The boat is hauled and prepped for hurricane season and the view from within the cottage was just as amazing as it was on the beach.
Mexico here he comes! It'll be 159 days, 23 hours, and 30 minutes since we've seen each in person.
To say we are excited (and a little nervous to re-learn living together) is an understatement.
But for tonight, it's cocktails, pizza, and an incredible sunset.

Tequila Sunset...
Today's sail from the south of Franceland to the north was uneventful and damn fun!
Top speed: 8.4
Best part, all sails. Started off with some nice downwind sailing, 8-15 kts wind, and maybe 2' swells and that pretty much sums up the sailing conditions.
Just a great day out here. And now: a shot of tequila, with a splash of grenadine, burnt orange peel essence, and a wedge of flesh.

Yeah, I went there. Kudos to those who get the typo.
The trampolines on a cat are a lifeline, not a kids toy. At some point, all the salt, sun, and wear n tear take its toll and you are left with the shaggy remains of the past, wishing for different decisions in life...
On the eve of leaving Martinique, Erik stepped aboard the tramp and literally it broke.
As a single hander, this is beyond unsafe so he was forced to delay departure and find new line and restring both tramps.
As per usual, perfection is his middle name, and the new tramps are strung up higher than Snoop Dogg selling us Corona. And now, he lives to see another day on the "high" seas. Except, he doesn't do drugs. Stop offering 🤣

That's not a knife...That's a KNIFE!
And yes, Erik walked this knife, this machete, through town, in his backpack, in 85 degree weather both directions, up and down hills, in flip flops. 🤣
He even stopped at a bistro for food, and dared the locals to test his french speaking skills.
Could be why his meal was so fabulous 💖

You know what this means, right?
Yep, that inter-island gust between St. Vincent and St. Lucia tore sme of the Genoa. So MacGuyver and Sailrite to the rescue.
Reinforcing the edge and repairing the tears. In the cockpit. With rain, and wind as the copilot.
One step forward and a couple projects to go. Gotta fix the cross-charger and generator and scrub the props, and then it's time to explore Le Marin, Martinique!

Lita is pregnant!!!
She's got at least one egg in the oven, and a safe space to hide her egg(s) for this clutch.
We wish her and her offspring the best life has to offer and hope our cockpit provides all the bugs needed for their health and happiness! 🥂🦎

IYKTYK - Cazadores is my tequila, and the fact it's here at Walmart in Mérida is badass! And yes, that shot was at my private pool at sunset.

Dinner on Sunday was impossibly romantic, with the dim lighting, shadows, and amazing service once again. I didn't consult translation and ordered with my heart. And was not disappointed. The popcorn shrimp was light and full of flavor. Didn't expect that. The pizza (not pictured) was my doggy bag for lunches and I'm still enjoying it thoroughly, dessert was churros with caramel sauce. What?!

My love affair with the food is still deep. BTW, the meal, and 3 glasses of wine (don't judge, I walked), was $53 WITH propina/tip.

Last, my townhouse is amazing, but the view from my bedroom is of the roof of the farmacia, and a side street that is gorgeous. Mas or menos, espectacular. 💋

I have big dreams, and huge tears, but there's never been a more important reason for this journey - it's time I started falling back in love with life and accepting me as I am, but with improvements that can only be found when alone, immersed in another's culture, and listening to the quiet.

I fly to Mexico to begin my new life tomorrow. Just me, 4 large suitcases, my work s**t, and boss bitch attitude.
It's going to be a very long 5-6 months before Erik joins me for the summer. Ain't gonna lie, I'm equal parts excited and freaked the F out.
