Star Trek S1, E17 The Squire of Gothos
I saw this episode at a very young age and this scene used to freak me out. "You will hang by the neck until you are de , de , DE !"
The actor who played Trelane, William Campbell also played the Klingon Commander Koloth in the Star Trek episode the Trouble With Tribbles in season 2. He also played the lead role in Memos from Purgatory written by none other than Harlan Ellison, who also wrote an episode of Star trek, the City on the Edge of Forever.
One of my favorite episodes from the first season. Star Trek was really out of the gate and running with a lot of terrific episodes. By the middle of season 1, the characters, the gadgetry and the general purpose of the mission were clearly defined. We've already had some groundbreaking episodes, and we have a lot of really great ones to come! I'm really enjoying the remastering. The Enterprise orbiting the planet Gothos looks amazing! If I'm not mistaken it was pretty drab looking to begin with. As someone who watched the show in black and white with bad vertical hold for many years, I can't take my eyes off the screen. It's like experiencing every episode through new eyes. This is where it all came from. TOS. THE REST OF THE S*** IS GOOD BUT THERE'S NOTHING LIKE THIS! LIVE LONG AND PROSPER!
