¡BIENVENIDO A CUENCA! 🇪🇨🇪🇨🇪🇨

A city in Southern Ecuador’s Andes Mountain region with a population of almost 600,000 people! 🌄⛰️🇪🇨

The first photo is on the top of the stairs above Calle Larga just next to Parque de la Madre 🏞️ I was on my way to where I’ll be taking some Spanish immersion classes 📝📚🧠

Just look at the beautiful view from the school’s balcony!! (Slide 3)🏞️

They also have a bulletin board with everything to do around the city 🤩(4)

Before the day is done be sure to head to Mirador de Turi for an epic view of the city at night 🌃✨

DAY 2 IN ECUADOR 🇪🇨🇪🇨🇪🇨cont’d

After a quick stop in Otovalo, I headed to La Mitad del mundo at Museo solar Quitsato just outside of Quito in a small town called San Antonio de Pichincha.

La Mitad del Mundo is the actual equatorial line and in this first picture I was on both sides of the equator at once!🤸🏾‍♀️

Next I finished the evening off on a flight to my next Ecuadorian city! Guess where I’m off to next!! ⬇️⬇️⬇️

DAY 1 cont’d (pt. 3)

¡BUENAS TARDES MI GENTE☀️!

After taking a short break in La Plaza Grande, I hopped in a taxi to my next destination: Capilla del Hombre & Casa Museo Guayasamín .guayasamin (admission to La capilla includes a ticket to the museo) 🏫🚕

The museum was incredible and unlike any I’ve been to before. It was constructed in the former home of famous Ecuadorian painter Oswaldo Guayasamín - known for his expressionism & cubism in the 20th century🎨👨🏽‍🎨🖼️

Check out some of his interesting pieces along with his beautiful home - i wanted to jump in that pool so bad 😭🏊🏾‍♀️💦

HAPPY BLACK HISTORY MONTH‼️

Some more photos from my trip to San Basilio de Palenque. The FIRST FREE TOWN FOR ENSLAVED AFRICANS IN ALL OF THE AMERICAS!!

Palenqueros have maintained their African roots for centuries, and a lot of them identify as “africanos fuera de Africa” 🌍(Africans outside of Africa) rather than just Colombians. They even have a native language which is a mix of portugués, español, y the African dialect Bantu 🌞

It was amazing to see such a beautiful black culture with strong African ties outside of the continent 🖤
