Pakistan aims to boost its bilateral trade with Kyrgyzstan from the current $15–16 million to $200 million within two years, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced ahead of the Pakistan–Kyrgyzstan Business Forum taking place in Islamabad on Thursday.

The statement came after a ceremony at the Prime Minister’s House on Wednesday evening, where Sharif and visiting President Sadyr Zhaparov oversaw the signing of agreements on trade, connectivity, energy cooperation, port access and business partnerships.

Zhaparov’s visit — the first by a Kyrgyz head of state to Pakistan in two decades — is expected to revitalise talks on a long-pending transit trade agreement and advance regional energy and transport initiatives linking Central and South Asia.
