Good morning, I'm Trixie, and I am a 4 1/2 year old female Greyhound that is looking for a wonderful retirement home to call my own.

I am a sweet and friendly girl that really likes to be around people. My favourite thing is toys! I love to play, and you will often see me playing in my kennel, this picture is of me and my new piggy I just got!

I am currently living with another Greyhound called Cindy, as she was very shut down and worried when we came in. I've been teaching her how to trust people, by watching me and is slowly coming out of her shell - we are great friends!

It's not been an easy few weeks since we suddenly and catastrophically lost our beautiful boy Ronson.

At least we got him to Cornwall last summer where he ran free with other sighthounds in the waves. He and Roxy settled down on the sand, content together.
We felt very lucky and proud to have him for the short time he was with us. He taught us many things - about how to live in harmony with a being with whom we needed to practice patience, kindness, and love. Who learned to trust us and not be scared. Who had been starved and cruelly treated. Who had survived.

Because he was, as they all are, incredibly special. When they learned we were on our final dreaded journey to be with him at the vets, many of the people he had spent time with in our local were in tears. He touched the hearts of so many people with his grace, his friendliness and his beauty.
He had become truly happy and comfortable in his skin, he was evolving, transforming, and that made it even more painful to lose him without any warning. It was so very unfair. But we are grateful he came into our lives, and we have been pretty much lost without him ever since.

We very rarely post about other breeds on our page, however to welcome in the New Year we wanted to support Staffie & Stray rescue that is trying very hard to keep going in the face of taking on many unwanted dogs including sighthound crosses.
If anyone knows a friend or family member who is bull-breed experienced, if they live within 2 hours drive from Bournemouth and can foster or rehome lovely Bronson (and also take a look at Herbie a 21 month old cross) please contact them.

We are looking for someone to potentially foster or adopt Bronson.

Friends for life - have a joy filled holiday Griff and crew!

14 years ago my gypsy friend brought me a tiny puppy he had found trying to find food on a site. I was working full-time in education at the time. So my daughter agreed to look after him while I was at work. When he was well and vaccinated, he was adopted by a person in Scotland. He had always been a feisty pup and lasted only 3 weeks in his home because he bullied the resident Lurcher. So I had to drive halfway Scotland to collect him. I have never seen such a happy pup - he screamed with excitement when he saw me and tried desperately to climb into the van. He had already decided where home was. My daughter had been upset when he left but we had agreed that we don't keep pups. She and Griff were thrilled to be reunited. And of course he stayed.

Nowadays, Griff is struggling. A back problem has made his mobility dodgy but he is hanging on in there. He has good pain relief. He also has a touch of dementia which is worse in the evenings. He is still Griff though.

Pawsome Puppies rings a big bell for something we all know as sighthound owners - it’s an equal relationship!
Babette helped us recently with settling in our new boy, so if you feel you’re struggling a bit we can’t recommend her approach enough! Viva hounds!

This boy is 7️⃣ today.

He has been nourished and cared for emotionally, mentally and physically so he can develop in all those areas of his life as a sentient being.

He’s been given choices where appropriate and possible in many different situations and he’s been given space to think without pressure or force.

He’s been comforted when he’s felt fearful and he’s been attended to when he’s in physical discomfort, along with future-proofing preventative action.

He is totally dependent on me for food, shelter, good management decisions, and trusts me implicitly not to put him deliberately into situations which create conflict for him.

He has forgiven me instantly for mistakes I’ve made (and still make, I’m sure!)

Our relationship is built on trust, teamwork and time spent together.

He can’t talk, but he communicates with me so clearly. All I had to do was learn his language as he has tried so hard to do with me.

He is my top priority and I am his advocate.
