Mooncat, a veteran figure in the Spanish drum & bass scene, returns with a new release on South Yard.

After a prolonged period of silence, Mooncat, one of our most respected artists, steps back into the spotlight with a release featuring two tracks: "Konkreet" and "Deep Blues," each with its own unique character and message.

"Konkreet" is inspired by the struggle and resilience needed to survive in the "concrete jungle" of our society. This track is a musical invitation from the artist to confront the alienation of city life, rampant capitalism, individualism, and excessive ambition. The dub-infused atmospheres invite reflection and preparation for action. The gut-wrenching and powerful basslines aim to overwhelm you, but the resilient atmosphere counters them, keeping us focused in perfect harmony.

"Deep Blues" is a musical synthesis of how our minds sometimes delve into deep states where shadows we prefer not to see reside. Filled with past experiences and inherited beliefs, this track represents the parts of ourselves we reject. The dark and intriguing atmospheres of this track symbolize that deep mind until we decide to face that internal struggle. The bassline, with its brutal sub-bass oscillations, stirs up all that dark, repressed content, akin to the dark night of the soul.

These two tracks are a testament to Mooncat's talent and depth as an artist. His ability to create music that not only sounds incredible but also conveys a powerful message is truly impressive. We are thrilled to have Mooncat back at South Yard and can't wait for everyone to hear his new work.

Unrest - Flashback
Javier Custardoy, also known as Franki (Unrest), is a DJ, producer, and mixing engineer. He established his own recording studio, “La Banana,” in 2019. His journey in music production began in 2008, delving into hip hop and releasing his own tracks, while also active as an MC since 2005. By 2010, he fell in love with rave culture and DJing, venturing into Ableton to craft breaks following a DnB party experience. Later, in 2018, he joined the national Drum and Bass collective, Fokin Massive, sharing stages with renowned artists and performing at prominent festivals like Monegros Desert Festival.

There’s always a reference point when starting a track, but this time felt different for Unrest. Aware that he sought a contemporary sound without fully diving into current roller or jump-up trends, he aimed for a contrast between a relatively simple and light drum pattern, except for the kick, and a bassline filled with weight, distortion, and melody. In the final moments of the first session, as the drop was nearly defined, he added vocals, and thus the track emerged. From then on, his connection with hip hop culture inspired the creation of an intro and interlude, featuring a simple yet effective piano, paying homage to the French sound of the ‘90s, an influence that captivated him since childhood.

We continue with our goal of being a platform where emerging artists unleash their creations. And this time, we introduce you to DISARM. Their debut on South Yard comes through a well-structured drum and bass release featuring two tracks: “Vibe” and “Loophole”.

Vibe, the first track, is sure to captivate you. It’s a journey through darkness with a touch of playfulness. Funk influences intertwine with a shadowy atmosphere, creating an intriguing balance.

The second track, “Loophole”, is heavily influenced by their British heritage. Broken beats and complex basslines transport us to the Bristol "underground scene".
The essence of Bristol’s music scene permeates both tracks, making this release an homage to the city that has significantly influenced the artist’s work. During their four years of residency there, he absorbed the soul of the local music scene. The atmospheres of Vibe and Loophole carry the rebellious and creative spirit of Bristol.

📣 Drum and bass music in Andalusia has never stopped orbiting, and in recent years, a multitude of incredible and talented producers have emerged on the scene to prove it.
We humbly try to accommodate many of them, and one of our favorite artists, whom we admire and love, is G.P.M. Originally from Malaga, he returns to South Yard presenting his second E.P, South Side, which refers to all this fervor that is brewing in southern Spain when we talk about Drum and Bass.

G.P.M presents his second E.P, South Side, a work that reflects the evolution, maturity, and authenticity of the artist, both externally with this sound design, drums, and bass, and internally with deeper maturity. G.P.M has created four amazing tracks that represent him completely; two darker and two more cheerful and carefree, as he is: Genuine and Andalusian.

On February 28th in Spain, Andalusia Day is celebrated, and we couldn’t have a better gift and representation than this work.
