*INNA LILLAHI WAINNA ILAYHI RAJI'UN*

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the sudden death of a sister and a student of this prestigious institution, BAUCHI STATE UNIVERSITY, GADAU who goes by the name HAFSAT ABDULLAHI ABUBAKAR, A 100 level student from the department of BIOCHEMISTRY, from Bauchi state, toro local government.

She died after a short illness, she passed away immediately after she was shortly admitted here in GADAU PHC.

The school management and student representative council commiserate and sympathies with her beloved family members and may Allah SWT grant her family members the fortitude to bear the loss.

May her shortcomings be forgiven and may her grave be illuminated by her good deeds.

Gambu Mijin Kulu (Mai-wakar Barayi):

Born Muhammad Gambo, popularly known as Gambu husband of Kulu (Entertainer of theives) in Fagadan town in Jega local government, Kebbi state in Nigeria.

Gambu was a Popular Hausa singer who specialized in weird songs for Night crawlers (Barayi).

His songs traversed the length and breath of west Africa and the middle East. He became famous with his songs dedicated to notable and sometimes fictitious thieves who like magicians operated openly and mysteriously in and around Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara States in the late seventies and eighties.

Gambu was known to be stubborn and fearless since his childhood. The original name of Gambu changed from Muhammad Gambo at a certain time due to the inability of many to pronounce the name 'Gambo' correctly.

Gambu's father was a famous teacher but Gambu wanted nothing to do with his father's legacy. Instead of studying under his father, Gambu would take his hunting equipment and set out to hunt for birds and other wild animals.

Whenever Gambu was successful at his hunt, he would come back to town and sell his catch to gamblers, and hung out with them singing through the night.

Thence Gambu started associating with thieves at the gambling arena. Gambu became acquainted with shoplifters, thieves, and robbers that blocked highways and robbed travellers.

He was known to passionately mention "Kulu" in his songs as she was his first wife from an arranged marriage by his mother.

Gambu died on Wednesday 18 August 2016 at the age of 80.

He died at the Maiyama General Hospital in Kebbi State and was survived by four wives, 16 children and many grandchildren.
