The theme centers African American traditions, offering a cultural perspective on shared spaces and moments of celebration with loved ones. Gatherings, often centered around food, are filled with conversation, laughter, and relief, highlighting how meals bring people together and foster connections. The act of breaking bread, a universal symbol of fellowship and trust, is integral to these gatherings. It signifies sharing, unity, and mutual respect, and this exhibition delves into how such rituals have been woven into the fabric of African American culture. Historically, these moments have represented commitment and held high cultural value, dating back to times of enslavement and even biblical references. This show also reflects the AAVE term “we all eat,” symbolizing communal success and unity. The exhibition showcases diverse examples of the significance of coming together in celebration and the enduring power of shared meals to strengthen bonds within the community.

Comeback city: Now is Cleveland’s moment for change. - Mayor Bibb in 2024 State of the City speech

CLEVELAND, Ohio –Mayor Bibb opened his speech with, "Shake off that sense that Cleveland’s best days are in the rearview. This city is primed for a comeback."

Playhouse Square’s Mimi Ohio Theatre was the setting for Thursdays speech. Bibb talked about the ongoing lakefront renewal proposals, the crime rate in the city, slumlords, access to technology, mental health awareness, and cracking down on menthol ci******es.

He pledged to reinvest in Black communities, bringing the cities government up to the 21st century, and highlighted the 10yr anniversary of the shooting of Tamir Rice.

Mayor Bibb's speech was met with two protestors whom Bibb allowed to speak and praised America for having freedom of speech.

Bibb closed the speech saying now is Cleveland’s moment to embark on a new chapter.

“Meeting this moment will require hard choices. But greatness takes hard choices. Over the past two years, we haven’t shied away from our toughest challenges, and we won’t start now.”

"Together we are making Cleveland a place where the American Dream is still within reach for everyone.”

[Atlanta, GA] On Valentines Day, Usher was honored by the City of Atlanta and Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens with the Phoenix Award at the Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame near Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Amazon Music and BMEWOF also revealed an emblem for Usher on the Walk of Fame.

All eyes have been on Usher since his Super Bowl performance featured Alicia Keys, H.E.R., Lil Jon, Wil-i am, and Ludacris.

During the award ceremony, Usher described Atlanta as being up there with any other major city, including NY, LA, Paris, & Berlin.

He said, "It’s the United States of Atlanta baby!”
