Why are teachers not allowed to stop their dues payments even though they want out?

Kansas teachers cannot cancel their union dues deduction from their paychecks, even if they cancel their membership. Recent introduced legislation looks to remedy the issue:

To drain the swamp, you need tools. One of those tools is actually in the Constitution, in Article V.

HCR 5027 is Kansas' legislation to join 17 other states already signed on, including Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma, and Nebraska. Yet, Garden City's State Representative John Wheeler ([email protected]) is not yet supportive.
One of two things could be the case:

He is afraid of what could happen if we use a Convention of States to propose real reforms because 1) He is scared it may actually fix the problems in DC, or 2) He is scared of acting, and thus less scared of the current problems we have in DC.
Garden City peeps, please help John with his fears.

The Kansas House of Representatives prepare to vote on Convention of States soon. This effort has already been endorsed by Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Nebraska. It is time to get Kansas in gear and join the total of 17 states pushing to put DC back in the box the Founders intended it to stay in.

The government both federal and state, owns about 30% of the U.S. lands. Perpetual Conservation Easements add another 15% of U.S. lands in preservation schemes. And then there is the Conservation Reserve Program, which adds 20% of U.S. soil in preservation. That does not count the lands owned by private individuals, investment groups and non-profits such as the Nature Conservancy. If you do the math, it looks pretty frightening.

Conservation is important part of farming and ranching. As stewards of the land, if land is not taken care of, it makes it extremely tough to make a life with the land. The Director of Riley County Health Department, Julie Gibbs, recently attended a "beautiful wedding" in Fort Collins, Colorado.
While we applaud Gibbs for living free without the burden of a mask or social distancing, we have to point out she has continually ordered Manhattan and Riley County to stay masked and locked down.
With Wichita and Topeka already lifting their mandates, Gibbs' order helped to extend Manhattan's restrictions until "after school is out" in mid-May.
