🕵️♂️ Myth Busting: Serial Killers and Insanity 🕵️♂️
Myth: Serial Killers are always declared legally insane.
Fact: In the world of true crime, the line between sanity and insanity can be a complex one. Not all serial killers fit the stereotypical image of being declared legally insane. Here are some chilling examples from the UK:
👉 Harold Shipman: A doctor who deliberately took lives for personal gain. He's believed to have killed at least 15 patients through lethal injections.
👉 Dennis Nilsen: A former police officer with a methodical approach to his crimes. Nilsen was convicted of murdering at least 12 young men between 1978 and 1983 in London, luring them to his home.
👉 Peter Sutcliffe (Yorkshire Ripper): Found legally sane, motivated by anger and harm. He was responsible for the murder of 13 women in Yorkshire between 1975 and 1980.
👉 Rosemary and Fred West: A chilling couple who committed gruesome crimes, including the murders of at least 10 young women, some of whom were their own children.
👉 John Christie (Rillington Place Murders): A manipulator who lured victims to their deaths in London during the 1940s and 1950s. He killed at least eight women, including his wife, Ethel.
👉 Colin Ireland (Gay Slayer): Driven by a desire for notoriety, he targeted gay men he met in bars and clubs, leading to the deaths of at least five individuals.
🔍 These cases show that not all serial killers are declared legally insane, highlighting the complexity of these chilling stories.
