MISSION STATEMENT
ART + CULTURE + POLITICS + SOLUTIONS
The new reincarnation of Modern Hieroglyphics Magazine explores a wide variety of arts, ranging from the creative expression of the streets to the halls of legendary museums, including many genres not typically viewed as “fine art." In addition to covering the arts, MH also covers culture and politics—and highlights where all these realms i
ntersect. At MH, we are committed to journalistic originality, with revolutionary approaches and programs that leave a lasting impact on society; thus creating our own “modern hieroglyphics” and living message for today’s audience as well as the generations to come. Interviews and articles are created with integrity, authenticity, and objectivity. MH aims to keep a balance between complexity and simplicity in regards to content and writing. Features are not based off the popularity of any particular individual or subject; rather, MH values artistic quality over fan quantity. Features are selected from nominations by the MH team as well as from audience submissions. MH does not aim to simply dictate the flow of pop culture by telling the reader who is “hot now;” rather, MH aims to give the people a powerful interactive platform through social media and website forums to express their own opinions. MH welcomes the voices from the heard to the unheard; expressing the love to the pain, the untruths to the truths, and bringing the focus from understanding to “over-standing.”
MH will be the publication for people turn to in order to find the brilliant yet unknown emerging artists, as well established celebrities portrayed in a new light. All will be asked revolutionary core questions that no one else is asking. As MH evolves, it will take the LIVES and STYLES of the creative world to a whole new level by promoting the artistic, cultural, political and social evolution of human society. CENTRAL THEME: SOLUTIONS
Content featured in MH will focus on solutions for society; rather than merely sensationalizing the existing problems. HISTORY OF MH
In 1990, Modern Hieroglyphics was originally coined by street artist BLAME 1, a founding member of the Modern Hieroglyphics the painting crew. MH Magazine’s founder and visionary, artist Chor Boogie, has been affiliated with the original crew since the early 90’s. The original MH philosophy is still the same philosophy that inspires today’s reincarnation of MH. We come together to create innovative beauty by any means necessary. MH honors the fine art in street art, and all other forms of marginalized and popular art, when artistic mastery is present. We are inspired by a true and noble understanding of the spray paint medium and the public art/ street art culture which are likened to the original hieroglyphics: a cultural record and a message left to shine wisdom on present and future generations.
