Portal for Japanese minimalist architecture the focus is definitely on already built projects, but also some great J.A. related proposals will be presented.

we started this project in may of 2012 after some research and the later realisation of the fact that no serious anglophone website strictly devoted to Japanese minimalist architecture was out there. in the meantime, mooponto is quickly becoming one of the most referenced online sources in the field of Japanese architecture. we concentrate on Japanese minimalist architecture projects built in Japa

n or architecture built elsewhere by Japan-based architectural offices and architects. presented projects are mostly described by their respected authors themselves, with useful hi-res photographs and plans and as accurate as possible project data at the bottom of each post. our goal is to bring the amazing philosophy and spatial design behind Japanese architecture closer to wider audiences beside architects and designers, and by doing that to create the largest online project based "library" for architecture of Japan for which we have the deepest respect and admiration. 〈 White Collage 〉 by Keikichi Yamauchi architect and associates is a minimalist house aiming to provide a close relationship between its residents and the surrounding environment. The installed stainless steel sheets enable the dwellers to witness the seasons changing, oversee their children playing, and enjoy the sight of the pets playing in the park. Although the plot on which White Collage sits is not large, the spacious frontage makes up for it.

〈 House in Ayameike 〉by IPPEI KOMATSU ARCHITECTS is a minimalist residence located in a residential area of Nara City. Its steel structure enables it to create a transparent polycarbonate wall on the upper floor, allowing enough natural light to come in and provide a bright atmosphere. Privacy is taken into consideration by installing exterior curtains that flutter in the wind.
