We're joined by Kerry Gibb from Woking & Sam Beare Hospice and Wellbeing Care to talk about their upcoming events, including their Warehouse Clothes Sale (This Saturday), Go Grab Life Walk, and the Dragon Boat Race.

She is joined by Katie Doyle, Ward Manager at the Hospice, so we'll be learning about the work they do, their staff, volunteers, charity shops, the hospice lottery and lots, lots more.

Kerry and Katie have chosen some great songs, which we'll be playing in between our chat.

On this week's The We Love Woking Show ...

We're joined in the studio by Justin Galbraith, owner of Dig In Records.

We first met Justin in October last year at the Fiery Bird Live Music Venue and Phoenix Cultural Centre reopening weekend, where he had a pop-up shop.

Since then, Dig In Records has opened upstairs at Lionsheart Bookshop in Commercial Way.

We'll be finding out more about Justin, his inspirations, his passion for music, his adventure opening up his business, opening hours, and what to expect from a visit to Dig In Records.

Record Store Day 2024 is coming up on Saturday, 20th April, and this will be Woking's first!

We'll find out what's it's all about and what music will be available to buy from the store.

Justin has chosen his songs, and we'll also be playing some tracks from albums being released on Record Store Day.

In the 2nd hour, we'll also be mentioning a few local events from around the Woking Borough.

On this week's The We Love Woking Show ...

Wednesday 20th March 2024.

Back in the very early days of this show, we were joined in the studio by James Lowe who had just opened a butchers in West Byfleet, and he asked if he could bring his sister Sam along, who had just started a Judo club. Of course, we said yes, and we had a great chat with them both.

Nearly 10 years later, it is an absolute pleasure to welcome back Sam Skillcorn, Club Coach and Co owner of Fighting Fitness Judo.

Sam is a former British International, 2002 Commonwealth Games Champion and Under 20 & Under 23 Bronze Medallist.

We'll be hearing about her journey into Judo, competing on the international stage, and her transition into coaching and running a Judo club alongside her husband, Vince Skillcorn.

Fighting Fitness Judo provides judo classes in Woking and Guildford for children, teenagers, and adults, combining physical activity, self-defense skills, and discipline.

We'll be learning about Judo, the club, the coaches, the different classes, what to expect from a lesson, the grading, and how you can get involved.
They have just started a ladies only class aswell, so we'll be talking about that too.

As with all guests, Sam has chosen her songs, and we'll be playing these in between our chat.

In the 2nd hour, after the news, we'll be spending a few minutes mentioning local events from all around the area.

We ❤️ live music, and this week, we're talking about two fantastic events, WynterFest and ShyneFest 2024!

We're joined in the studio by Ciaron Sykes, one of the organisers, and he'll be telling us all about them.

WynterFest is happening this Saturday 9th March at The Boiler Room in Guildford, with a great lineup, including 2 Woking bands Coco la funk and Brie.

ShyneFest, a family-friendly music festival, will be taking place on Friday 31st May and Saturday 1st June at Merrist Wood College in Worplesdon.

There are some awesome bands lined up, including Dodgy and Woking's Joe Kellino’s Miracle Medicine Show, tribute acts, kids activities, food, drink, camping, glamping, and loads more.

Plus, we'll learn about their recent Theo Phahitis Small Business Sunday Award and hear some fantastic tunes selected by Ciaron.

Also, Woking Rugby carrying out the flag for England at Twickenham, Woking Lions upcoming Martian Race , The Basingstoke Canal Society Canal boat trips on 'Kitty' for Mother's Day, Fiery Bird Live Music Venue Crowdfunder , Woking & Sam Beare Hospice and Wellbeing Care Prom Dress event and 'Inspiration for Life' art exhibtion, and All Aboard Club for autistic and ADHD children at The Lightbox.

Plus there's an Author talk at Woking Library, karaoke at the Crown Anchor in Old Woking, and Free Snooker sessions for people with Parkinsons at Woking Snooker Centre.

After beginning January in full on lazy mode, it's time to get back into the Loving Woking mode...and we have a high energy Show to lift you into the New Year!

We believe in the power of dreams, and inspiring and encouraging each other to believe in ourselves and our visions and ideas. And it's amazing to meet people who have taken the leap to follow their dreams and are successful, doing something they love.

A few years ago, this week's guest Zumba with Kirsty - done exactly that.

Dreaming of becoming a Zumba teacher, Kirsty Handyside got herself focused, printed some flyers, booked a hall and started spreading the word about her classes.

A couple of years in and now she is teaching Zumba most days of the week, twice on Fridays and has created a brilliant Zumba community, helping spread lots of fun and happiness on the way!

We'll be hearing all about her journey so far, where she holds her classes, how to get booked on them and what you can expect from your Zumba with Kirsty sessions.

As with all guests she has chosen her songs, which we'll be playing inbetween our chat.

Plus we have a look at local events and happenings from around the area, and lots of fantastic music to bounce you into the evening.

We love guests who return to the show and talk about their adventures since they were last with us.

Steve Keywood originally joined us back in 2014, when the show was just getting going. He was a local personal trainer, who also ran a bootcamp - 'The Fit Green' and we thought it would be brilliant to get him on and learn more about what he does.

He even challenged us to pop down to the boot camp and try it out, which we did, with hilarious results.

After All these years - He's Back!

And boy does he have a lot to talk about!

He recently opened Nudge Fitness, a very friendly, non intimidating, personal training gym in Goldsworth Park. We'll be hearing all about that and what someone who's interested, can expect from a visit there.

We'll also be talking about 'The Fit Green' which is still going strong, his successful 'The Hot Body Project', their Urban Tri, Woking and lots more!

He has selected his songs, and we'll be hearing these inbetween our chat.

First up between 6-7pm, we have Fleur Chan from South Western Railway.
She'll be talking to us about Woking Station's Christmas Shoebox and Gift appeal for the elderly, vulnerable, and homeless in Woking.

This is something they've done every year, and we'll learn what kinds of things they're looking for to be put in the boxes, where to bring them and lots more.

From 7-8pm Elaine Mcginty from Fiery Bird Live Music Venue and Phoenix Cultural Centre is in the studio.

Woking's very own Live Music Venue and Cultural Arts and Community Space is now open, and we'll be talking about their opening and what's happening there, including their Open Mic night, Lovely Music night, the gigs and all the other wonderful things that take place there. Plus some of the other organisations they're working with and how the community can get involved.

With the last Woking Council
Administration leaving our town's finances in tatters, our guests will mention how this will drastically affect lots of our local charities and community groups going forward.

Both guests have chosen their songs, and we'll be hearing these in between our chat.
