RED ARROWS FOOTBALL CLUB ANNOUNCES LOAN TRANSFER OF RICKY BANDA TO AL MERRIKH SPORTING CLUB

Red Arrows Football Club announces the temporary transfer of forward Ricky Banda to Al Merrikh SC of Sudan on a six-month loan deal.

This decision was made with careful consideration, prioritising the best interests of the player, who has been instrumental and loyal to the Club. This move presents an exciting opportunity for Ricky Banda to gain valuable exposure and further his development in a competitive environment.

Banda joined Red Arrows FC in the 2021/2022 season on loan from National League outfit Jumulo FC before his permanent transfer in 2024. During his time at Nkoloma Stadium, Banda has achieved remarkable success, winning the MTN Super League, ABSA Cup silver and Charity Shield in his first season. He also claimed the 2021/22 season MTN Super League golden boot and player of the season award. In the last three seasons, Banda has won the MTN Super League twice, ABSA Cup once and Charity Shield twice, and was part of the team that claimed the 2024 CECAFA Kagame Cup.

Red Arrows Football Club wishes Ricky Banda the best of luck during his time at Al Merrikh SC and believes this loan move will contribute positively to his career progression.

He becomes the second Red Arrows Football Club player to join Al Merrikh SC after 2004 title winner Zachariah Simukonda.

280 European mercenaries captured and surrendered to Rwanda๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ผ๐Ÿช–

Rwanda is one of the safest country in Africa for for a reason and we will not allow anyone to destabilise out country, not once.

Mercenaries have been reported in Africa helping to destabilise the continent.

Rwanda is often cited as one of the safest countries in Africa. The nation has a low crime rate, and its capital, Kigali, is known for its cleanliness and order. Violent crimes are relatively rare, and the government maintains a strong grip on security operations.

We thank our men and women in Uniform for keeping our country safe.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฟ

THE FIGHT IS OVER: More FARDC Soldiers Drop Arms For M23 at Goma Airport

More troops from the Congolese Armed Forces (FARDC) have continued to surrender to the M23 rebels in Goma following years of intense fighting.

Abandoned by their selfish Chief Commander and President Fรฉlix Tshisekedi, over 500 FARDC troops have opted to join the M23 revolution.

The soldiers FARDC have been received by the M23 command who plan to recruit them troops to strengthen their forces ahead of their final battle to oust Tshisekedi and his government.

The M23 have commended the surrendering FARDC soldiers for their resilience to fight for the nation even when they had been unequipped and under paid by Tshisekedi.

ZCID Welcomes Public Gatherings Bill as a Step Towards a Fairer Democratic Space

29/01/2025

The Zambia Centre for Interparty Dialogue (ZCID) welcomes the announcement by the Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security, Hon. Jack Mwiimbu, that the Public Gatherings Bill intended to replace the contentious Public Order Actโ€”is ready for submission to Cabinet for final consideration.

This marks a crucial step towards fostering a more open and democratic political environment, especially as Zambia approaches the 2026 General Elections. For years, the Public Order Act has been a source of concern among political parties and civil society, often cited as a tool that restricted political freedoms and unevenly applied across stakeholders. The consultative process undertaken in reviewing this legislation is commendable, and we trust that all stakeholder submissions will be meaningfully incorporated into the final Bill.

ZCID strongly urges the government to ensure that this Bill provides a fair and transparent framework for public gatherings one that guarantees the rights of all political actors and citizens to assemble, engage, and participate in national discourse without undue restrictions. A well-balanced law will not only strengthen Zambiaโ€™s democracy but also build public confidence in the electoral process ahead of 2026.

As the nation moves forward, we call on all stakeholders to remain engaged and vigilant in ensuring that this legislative reform truly reflects the principles of democracy, political tolerance, and respect for fundamental freedoms.

A democracy thrives when all voices can be heard. Let us get this right.

SOCIALIST PARTY PRESIDENT CRITICIZES 2025 BUDGET PLANS IN STATE OF THE NATION ADDRESS
..Warns of Economic Strain as UPND Government Targets 80% Domestic Revenue Mobilisation

Lusaka, Zambia --- Socialist Party President Dr. Fred M'membe has expressed grave concerns over the projected 2025 budget, particularly its reliance on domestic revenue mobilisation.

During his state of the nation address, Dr. M'membe highlighted that the government aims to fund 80% of the 2025 budget through domestic resource mobilisation warning that this approach could crowd out the private sector from the credit market, as the government would need to raise funds through the issuance of government securities at increasing yield rates.

โ€œTax revenues will dwindle as the economy contracts," he cautioned. "So where will this 80% domestic revenue mobilisation come from? Another pie in the sky!"

Dr. M'membe also pointed to the anticipated rise in VAT collections, projected to increase from K36.4 billion in 2024 to K48.3 billion in 2025, amid what he described as already stressed households and local businesses.

โ€œWhat the UPND government is telling us is that in 2025, let's brace our homes and businesses for more stress and hardships," he remarked.

Dr. M'membe further lamented the introduction of a 10% excise duty on betting in 2025.

โ€œFor those into ma bola bet, the UPND government budget introduces 10% excise duties on betting. Mu ka chula!" he declared, suggesting that this would further burden already distressed citizens.

The Socialist Party President also addressed the issue of debt servicing, which is projected to grow by 22%, reaching K217.1 billion in 2025.

He criticized the celebrated debt restructuring process, stating that while it was sold as a solution, it has only led to increased allocations for debt servicing, from K38.9 billion in 2024 to K54 billion in 2025.

โ€œWe warned that before debt restructuring, there was no debt servicing. If we were facing challenges then, what more when debt servicing commences following debt restructuring?" he queried.

He highlighed the negative impact of ballooning domestic debt on local investments likening government's resource mobilisation efforts to a suction pump that deprives local investors of the funds needed for production.

โ€œHow will the economy grow?" he questioned, leaving the audience to ponder the future economic trajectory under the current administration's budgetary plans.
