I hope you are all having a blessed Yule season so far. Today my Yule oracle deck reminded me of the importance of speaking kindly to myself and also speaking with intention when using for my voice for other purposes.

As I’m sure many of you can relate, I do not have a great relationship with my family. This time of year can trigger a lot of anxiety and bring me back to the traumatized little girl I used to be. This was a much needed reminder to set boundaries and speak up for myself when necessary and to give myself grace over the holiday season. I wish all of you with difficult family dynamics a peaceful and stress free holiday season. Don’t forget to feed into yourself when you can.

One thing that is so important for us to recognize is that we’re all human, and human nature by definition is flawed. Nobody is perfect. We worry so much about how we sound and appear to other people, especially on the internet where we have the time to curate the perfect response or post, and yet we forget that every single person out there is imperfect. We all misspell and mispronounce words, we all say the wrong thing sometimes, we all spill stuff, drop stuff, get stuff in our teeth, take bad pictures, and stutter over our words when trying to say something. These things are a normal part of the human experience and yet we try so hard to pretend they don’t happen and get embarrassed when they do. This thinking has prevented me from putting myself out there on multiple occasions and going into 2024, my goal is to remember that it’s okay to not be perfect. I want to use my voice. I have things I want to say and I’m not going to be afraid to say them anymore. I’m done worrying about what I look like on camera, or if my pictures are perfectly curated for the Instagram aesthetic. I am here to be me. I know I’m not for everyone and that’s okay, but how can I connect with the people who I do vibe with if I hide behind my insecurities instead of standing loud and proud in who I am? People will judge you no matter what, so you might as well be yourself, unapologetically.
