Stan Grant hails from the Wiradjuri people of central New South Wales and works for ABC Australia. In an ABC Australia column, he detailed his recent experience of racist attacks and accused his employer of not offering enough support. His company has now apologized.

Of the hundreds of chief meteorologists at TV news stations across the country, few are Black women. Getting that position is difficult and once you get the job some viewers can be racist.

The data confirms what Black women in the industry have described: they are grossly underrepresented in meteorology – especially in television.
