Official NewStyle Radio 98.7FM the reception number New Style 98.7 FM, launched on 14th August 2002, was born out of 15 years of short term radio broadcasting and training.

Our service is reflective of multicultural Birmingham, but at the same time is particularly and distinctly reflective of African Caribbean culture and aspiration. New Style Radio 98.7FM Objectives

• To keep the community informed of civic matters

• To give people of the African & Caribbean dispora a voice

• To entertaining the community with a variety of music particularly black music of the ge

nre Reggae, Dancehall, Soul & R ‘n’B, Hip Hop, Soca, Calypso, Zouk, Jazz, Latin, African, Gospel and World Sounds

• To providing an outlet and platform for local artists

• To encourage listeners to interact and be part of the station

• To engaging school children, students, young people and others in training, programme making and presentation

• To promote and support creative events and activities in Birmingham and surrounding area. Newstyle Radio is ran mainly by unpaid volunteers & is part of the Afro-Caribbean Millennium Centre (Charity No: 519691) a registered charity setup to support the educational and socials needs of the Afro-Caribbean community in the West Midlands. Stephen Lawrence was a black teenager who lived in Plumstead in south-east London.

On 22 April 1993, Stephen Lawrence, an 18-year-old Black man, was stabbed to death at a bus stop in Eltham, south-east London by a group of White youths in an unprovoked, racist attack. Stephen's friend, Duwayne Brooks, was with him at the time and witnessed the attack.

Merciless, born Leonard Bartley July 1st, 1971 in the Turner district of Chapelton, Clarendon, Jamaica, died on July 19th, 2022 in St. Andrews, Jamaica. Merciless was a reggae and dancehall artist He made his recording début in 1994 with "Lend Out Mi Mercy", which was a hit in Jamaica and elsewhere, and a string of further hits followed, including "Mavis", which was the top reggae single in Jamaica in 1995 which used the same riddim as Shaggy's hit  "Mr. Boombastic"
