As you may already know, the world is suffering from a global pandemic and it is not going away anytime soon. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the world as we know it and we are now living more differently than usual.
With COVID-19 being a very infectious disease, Dundee along with the rest of the world have had to adapt with different measures such as restricted distance.
#DundeeIsOpen is Dundee Culture’s social media campaign focusing on Dundee’s route coming out of lockdown as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The campaign is being used to let people know about the latest guidance on how to #StaySafe to prevent contracting the virus as well as updating folk on what’s opening or about to re-open in the city.
Wear a face covering - Please remember when you are out and about in public places such as shops, public transport and indoor spaces, to wear a face covering. A face covering helps reduce the risk of infection of COVID-19.
Remember to social distance - Please stand 2 meters a part from others when in public also, Social distancing can make all the difference!
Wash your hands - When coming back home, remember to wash your hands for 20 seconds with soap. It will help eliminate any germs caught when out.
Please Stay Safe and Protect Others. Thank You.

Hello there, my name is Andrew Batchelor, I am the founder and admin of Dundee Culture, a social media brand showcasing Dundee to the world.
I was born in 2000 and was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, a few weeks after I was born and my parents were told I would never be able to walk or talk. I was later diagnosed with autism, anxiety disorder, dyslexia, discalculya and recently, epilepsy - but these are things that don’t get in the way of what I love - promoting my home city of Dundee.
I created Dundee Culture in 2013 to originally support Dundee’s UK City of Culture bid for 2017 and Dundee Culture has went on to promote Dundee’s culture to the world - 7 million people from 47 different countries worldwide.
My inspiration for starting Dundee Culture was my Auntie Lorraine who sadly passed away in 2011, she loved Dundee and was so so proud to be a Dundonian. She loved Dundee so much that she would retaliate to anyone that badmouthed Dundee. I visited many attractions in Dundee with her when I was younger and that opened my eyes to see what a beautiful city Dundee was. Although Dundee wasn’t in a right state back in the early 1990s to late 2000s, my auntie believed that Dundee would change for the future - and look what has happened!
I have received several accolades through my work with Dundee Culture, such as, being named Dundee’s youngest ambassador, the youngest person in Dundee to hold the Queen’s Baton ahead of the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, named by Young Scot as one of four young people who have ‘ruled the tech world’, named by Digital Leaders as one of ten young digital leaders in the United Kingdom and named by Young Scot Awards as one of three Year of Young People 2018 Champions.
As a young person who is disabled, I want to send a message out to other young people who are also disabled - you can achieve anything, don't let anyone tell you different, the world is your oyster!
