Oyo State Worker Jailed for Sale of Government Property As OYACA Warns Against Corruption

The Oyo State Anti-corruption Agency (OYACA) has announced the conviction of Adesina Oyegoke, an Assistant Chief Executive Officer at Lagelu Local Government, for illegally selling landed property owned by the State Government.

Mr Oyegoke, who worked in the Local Government’s Estate department, was charged with three counts of corruption and sentenced to three months in prison under the 2019 OYACA Law.

3SC, Enyimba, Plateau Utd Jostle for N-Youth League Cup’s N40m

Shooting Stars FC of Ibadan, Enyimba of Aba and Plateau United of Jos are among the 30 youth teams from across the country bidding for a slice of the N40 million prize money at the inaugural Nigeria Youth League Cup (NYLC).

Other notable teams include Lobi Stars of Makurdi, Kwara United, Rivers United, Kano Pillars, Yobe Desert Stars of Yobe, Gateway FC of Abeokuta and Akwa United of Uyo.

The President of NYLC Robinson Adakosa at a media briefing yesterday in Abuja, described the tournament as an elite youth development programme with the mission of providing world-class football experience and competition for teenagers and young adults between the ages of 16 and 19.

He said the large prize money will only be split among the top four teams as the objective of my tournament is to test the quality of the players.

He also added that each participating club in the Nigerian Premier Football League and National League will receive N5 million to assuage the financial burden of running the first team.

The season will kick off on September 8, 2024, and end in April 2015, providing eight months of exhilarating football artistry affording talented players to showcase their ability.

Ibadan 3SC Star, Malomo Taofeek Joins Albanian Club, KF Bylis

The attacking midfielder of the Oluyole Warriors, Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, Malomo Taofeek Ayodeji, has officially joined KF Bylis in Albania.

This transfer move signifies a huge boost in Malomo’s career as he departs from his boyhood club, Shooting Stars, to embark on a new chapter, signing a 2-year deal with the Albanian side.

The attacking winger leaves Shooting Stars Sports Club after the expiration of his contract with the team at the end of last season.

Soft spoken Malomo, who scored seven goals and provided four assists in the 2023/24 season, has gladly moved to Europe, where he has joined Albanian side FK. Bilis on a 2-year deal.

Malomo, was instrumental to the promotion of the Oluyole Warriors back to the topflight in the 2021/22 season and he had outstanding moments with the Ibadan soccer lords, after switching over to the Oluyole Warriors from Joy Cometh FC some seasons ago.

Meanwhile, the Management and the entire team wish Malomo success as he forges ahead in his career.

STUDENTS LOAN: University of Ibadan Receives N201m Education Loan for 1,370 Students

University of Ibadan the says it has received the sum of N201,114,650 from Nigerian Education Loan Fund, NELFUND, for 1,370 students of the institution for the 2023/2024 academic session. The university’s Director of Public Relations, Joke Akinpelu, confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Ibadan.

The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (Oyo SUBEB) has fixed Wednesday, 14 August Monday, 26 August 2024 at 9 am each day as interview dates for applicants at the Oyo SUBEB Headquarters at Agodi, Ibadan.
The interview dates are as follows:

Wednesday, 14 August 2024: Egbeda, and Atisbo Local Government Areas (LGAs).

Thursday, 15 August, 2024: Akinyele, Afijio, and Ibarapa Central LGAs.

Friday, 16 August 2024: Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Kajola, Ibarapa East, Ibarapa North, Lagelu and Iwajowa LGAs.

Monday, 19 August 2024: Ido and Ibadan South West LGAs.

Wednesday, 21 August 2024: Atiba, Oyo East, Oyo West, Surulere, and Ogo-Oluwa LGAs.

Thursday, 22 August 2024: Ibadan South-East, Ibadan North, Ibadan North-East and Ibadan North-West LGAs.

Friday, 23 August 2024: Oluyole and Ona Ara LGAs.

Monday, 26 August 2024, Saki West, Saki East, Irepo, Oriire, Olorunsogo, Orelope, Ogbomoso North, and Ogbomoso South LGAs.

A statement by the Oyo SUBEB Chairman, Dr Nureni Aderemi Adeniran revealed that out of 45,827 applicants who sat for the CBT examination, only 8,197 met the 50% cut-off mark.

Dr Adeniran urged all candidates to come with print-outs of their application slip, CBT result slip, and interview schedule slip.

The OYOSUBEB Boss said they also need to bring relevant credentials, they uploaded on the job portal, such as evidence of local government of origin, local government of residency, Date of birth certificate, NIN certificate, original Certificates from their institutions, original NYSC certificate (for graduates), change of name for married women and other relevant documents.

He further advised all candidates to log into their portal to ascertain their scheduled dates of interview.

25 Persons Lost Their Lives As Trailer Rams Into Vehicles In Ibadan.

At least 25 people have been reported to exit this world in an accident on Tuesday along the Ojoo-Iwo Road near the Agbowo/Ajao area of Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

According to Oyo Affairs on Tuesday, a trailer carrying roofing sheets collided with an 18-seater Hummer bus, a Micra taxi, and a Honda CR-V car, resulting in the loss of lives.

Former Governor of Oyo State, Rashidi Ladoja, will be presented with a crown befitting his status today as Otun Olubadan at the inaugural meeting of Olubadan-in-Council to be presided over by Oba Olakulehin.

Ladoja, the Otun Olubadan, had earlier rejected the beaded crown when the late Oba Lekan Balogun crowned other members of the Olubadan-in-Council. The former governor insisted that there was no rancour within members of the Olubadan-in-council, maintaining that the elevated Obas were all his friends.

‘Genuine Christians should not attend Rema, Wizkid, Davido concerts’ - Joshua Mike Bamiloye

Joshua Mike Bamiloye, the son of Nigerian gospel film actor, Mike Bamiloye has stated that it is inappropriate for Christians to attend concerts by Nigerian musicians such as Rema, Wizkid, and Davido.

He made this known in a tweet on Monday where he asserted that genuine Christians shouldn’t go to shows by non-religious performers.

Joshua further stated that many people would disagree with his viewpoint, only those who are led by the Holy Spirit are able to set boundaries.

He said," Honestly, if you consider yourself a genuine Christian, it’s not appropriate to participate in shows or concerts by secular artists like Davido, Wizkid, Rema, etc.

“Some might argue against this view, but those who are guided by the Holy Spirit understand where to set boundaries.”
