We set up this podcast because history is often framed in an inaccessible way where, in order to learn about history, you need a somewhat basic understanding of it. We're a two person team - Piper, the self proclaimed resident "history idiot", and Patrick, an amateur historian who's been interested since they were very young. The format of our podcast is simple- every episode, Piper asks Patrick a
question about history, sometimes pretty simple questions (such as the titular question; why are castles round?) and Patrick will try to answer them as simply as possible. We'll usually have conversations about the topic and look further into why things are the way they are. We also want to say from the get go that neither of us are infallible, and we make no claim to the contrary! If we get things wrong or confused, we will try our best to rectify things wherever we can as soon as possible after we're aware of it. We both love to learn and getting things wrong is a big part of that so feel free to call us out if you know more than us!
