Single lane roads, tall pines, oyster farms, and untouched wetlands. We fell in love with Florida’s Big Bend when we visited last year. This first photo was one of our favorite FL camp spots near Perry. Glad we got to experience the charm of places like Cedar Key, Steinhatchee, Keaton Beach, St. Marks, Perry and the Suwannee River before Hurricane Idalia swept through. Prayers up for Big Bend and the Forgotten Coast. 💙

We pick right up where we stopped last week, and immediately work towards reinstalling the ginormous shelf we pulled out of the ambulance. So…. Apparently, we spent 3 months this spring completely restoring our boat we bought in Sept 2021, then we hit the road. ALL WITHOUT TELLING THE INTERNET. That wasn’t really the plan, but that’s what had happened. Well here it is, and now you know. Any questions? 😆

IDK what’s crazier… that fact that around this time last year, we were building homemade batteries, or the fact that we are able to camp off-grid indefinitely because of them.

What’s even crazier than all of that is the fact that the only reason we even knew that homemade LifePO4 batteries existed is because some sailing couple spammed the comments of a bunch of our YouTube videos. I never clicked the links, but shoutout to that couple because their spam essentially sparked life into what became the heart of our build… our 12v 560Ah homemade lithium battery bank.

We’ve never run aground in our boats before in 5 years on the water, but after only 10 months on the road we got stuck in Moab after I overshot this 3 point turn and got our hitch receiver hard stuck in the ground. Thanks to the team for getting us out of our rut.

The Flora-Bama was totally our vibe. 🤓 From Kenny Chesney lyrics spelled out with license plates to the bras hanging from the ceiling… this beachfront bar is iconic and charismatic. We met some new friends, even in the bathroom where a lady gave Tiff a sharpie to write on the wall. Look for Team Wiff in the upstairs ladies bathrooom next time you’re there. 😆

“How does this compare to boat life?”
The experience is totally different yet much the same. We put ourselves in new situations everyday and learn on the fly. The ups and downs are extreme. The space is smaller, but the adventure is bigger in a sense, since it’s all so new, vast and unfamiliar.

Where do we 💩, you ask?
We have a composting toilet and sliding privacy screen door. We p*e standing up in a funnel (both of us) which runs to a 21gal “yellow tank” that can last us ~3 weeks of full time use before needing to dump.
