Today was my first time ever in an empty Matt Molloy's pub 😀. Well, nearly empty anyways.
A real privilege to have a private session with Carlos Sweeney McCartin as we worked on a cover pic for their forthcoming album.

Hip Hip for the Whoopers, arriving on the lake this evening from Iceland.
Nearly makes up for the swallows departing .
We had a great night remembering the late Mickey Boland at the O'Carolan Harp Festival and Summer School in Keadue last night. Eugene Murphy and the festival committee paid Mickey great tributes and the audience showed their appreciation for the man who loved the door dancing competition so much.
Thanks very much to Pat Gilligan for this video clip, I’ll post a link to the Sunday Miscellany piece about Mickey Boland in the comments below but I’m not sure if it works outside Ireland.
Kilty Remembers
What an amazing evening in Kiltyclogher when musicians performed to remember lost loved ones.
Here’s a short clip which does no justice to Ciara Brennan, Maurice Lennon and Chris Dawson but it might just give you a taste of an amazing occasion.

The Buzzard was about
Its eerie cry
Clashing
With the chatter of a swallow's brood
Chasing flies
The pup and I rose
Pushing through high rushes.
Buzzards
My lens was buried in a wildflower
As I knelt to pay homage.
Releasing the shutter before my breath
It synced with their cry
How Far
How High
I wondered
Rising and inhaling
The blood slow to my head
My face skyward
And there
By the forestry
Three by trees
At sport and play
Soaring and dropping
Wings pointed
Now broad
And cry cry cry
Let the wind carry them this way
And let me lie on my back
On a bed of rushes
Holding my breath
And releasing.
